The flowers on the chancel this morning are given in honor of Grandparents Day in memory of Dick and Sandra Johnston from Dylan, Anna and Leah. Ken Barton and the praise team shared a farewell song that Ken requested and sang called "Get Together." Rich Shawver presented Pastor Kurt and Mona with a card and a generous gift to honor their 20th year of ministry at Emmanuel. Margaret Frees was back in church Sunday after having a heart cath procedure. We had a nice farewell lunch for the Bartons. Bekah Brooks made a video tribute that included pictures from their time at Emmanuel. There was a memorial service Sunday at EBC for Sarah Goines and Roger McDonald mother and brother of Nathan Goines, who has been attending Emmanuel. Peter Ianniciello and Susan Stout have recovered from Covid and are feeling better. Steve Metheny got a clear/benign cancer result from his recent biopsy. Monica Fowler , cousin of Cheryl Burnem, got an all clear cancer scan this past week. Bob and Saunda Butler are Red Cross volunteers helping families struggling after Hurricane Ida. New AWANA Missionary! New AWANA Missionary! Today, September 12, Gary Wood, the new W.Va. AWANA missionary, will share a little about himself, his new role as WV's AWANA missionary, and about the importance of this ministry. He is required to raise all of his own financial support, as are many other missionaries, so we will be taking up a love offering for Gary as you leave the service. Healthy Eating for Life Potluck (HELP) Dinner and Education Series - Join Eileen Mayer and Linda McClead today for dinner with a purpose: to HELP each other eat wisely and well! Each monthly "Dinner

Meeting" starts at 4:30 in Fellowship Hall to share great company and potluck meals . Each session, bring $5.00 and 2-3 servings of a healthy recipe to share! Our "textbook" is the Daniel Plan Healthy Eating for Life Cookbook. A limited number are available for purchase for $20 from Terri in the office. Exercise Classes at EBC - The EBC Health Ministry is also offering exercise classes through Linda McLead and Temple Challenge every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. These exercises will be low impact, strength/cardio/core classes. $5/class.

Weekly Sunday Morning Prayer Gathering - Donna Shawver and Bonnie Nestor will be offering a weekly time of prayer for our worship service and ministry every Sunday, 10:25-10:35 in the church parlor. This group is open to anyone who would like to join them.

September is Heroes’ Month - Each Sunday in September, we’ll celebrate a different Hero: Sept. 5: Policemen and First Responders, Sept 12: Grandparents, September 19: Teachers and School Staff, and September 26: Doctors, Nurses and Hospital staff. Pastor Kurt is collecting stories about how your life has been positively impacted by one of these "heroes."

Colonial House Looking for Volunteers - The Colonial House is looking for two volunteers for about 1 hour/month. They would like one volunteer to discuss WV History and one to discuss Story Telling. If you are interested, contact Missi Stanley at (304)-428-6575.

Annual Church Picnic - Our annual church picnic this year will be Sunday, October 3 at 5:00 p.m. in the large shelter at City Park. All food and water to drink will be provided, including Lyndall’s famous chicken! Please join us for food, fun and fellowship!

Women’s Care Center Banquet Cancelled - The Women's Care Center is cancelling their annual banquet that was scheduled on Thursday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Grand Pointe. They are rescheduling for April 21-22, 2022. Emmanuel will be sponsoring a table of ten at the April banquet.
