In Finland boys usually start skating when they are 5-6 years old. Organised training in clubs they start around 8. From 8-10 they practising 2-3 times a week in winter and 2-3 times during summer times. During these years the most important thing is to develop individual hockey basic skills. Years 10-12 they training 1-2 times more a week and besides of improving iteudivithial skills they start learning how to play different basic game situations. Next step in our system is to learn principles of team play. First national team in Finland is built up of boys who are 15 years old.
