11,2018. John R. was bom in Knoxville, Tennessee April22,1940 to the late Yvonne Lovely of Lake City, TN(grandparents John Ed and Ethel Lovely).
John R. is survived by his wife, Catherine ClayNeal; his brother, David G. Neal (Iosifovna); the motherof his children Linda Morris; his four sons, John R.Neal, Jr. (dec.1980); Clay Neal (Tina) and grandchildrenAshley, John and Clayton Neal; Brett Neal (Jennifer);and Tyrone Neal; and his daughter Grace Anne Morris.
John R. served in the United States Marine CorpReserves in Annapolis, MD from May I,1957 to July 20,1958. He attended the University of Tennessee atKnoxville, graduating in 7962, then the Nashville Schoolof Law graduating in 1968. After college, he manied andworked in the George P. Morris Rent-All business inNashville. His close friendship with the Massey familyinvolved him in the corporate leadership of KentuckyFried Chicken after Jack C. Massey and John Y. Brownpurchased KFC from Colonel Harland Sanders in 1964.He was the KFC Corporation Senior Director ofFranchising from 196l-1970. He became a KFCfranchisee in 1970 founding JRN, Inc. and moved toColumbia, TN after purchasing Clifton Place Plantation inAugust lgT2.Headquartered at the State Bank ofTennessee in Columbia, JRN owns and operates KFC,Taco Bell, PrzzaHut and Long John Silver's restaurants in11 states and is ranked in the Top 50 US franchiserestaurant companies. Over five decades, John R. becamewell known as a KFC franchisee leader, negotiating theindustry's longest active franchise agreement and servingon the national advertising committee for 30 years wherehe received the Colonel's Hard Way and President's prize,and the AKFCF Lifetime achievement award.
John R. also founded Neal Auction Company in NewOrleans in 1984 which is ranked in the Top 250 USauction houses and was a noted collector and authority on
American decorative arts from the 19th century. He
was an avid fox hunter, scuba diver and
conservationist. Hisinterests included all things equestrin, historicpreservation and the culinary arts.
John R. was a Board Member and Treasurer ofthe Victorian Society of America in Philadelphia,served on the Advisory Board for the restoration ofthe Tennessee State Capitol, and served on the Boardof the Tennessee State Museum Foundation and theKentucky Horse Park in Lexington. He was a memberof the Hillsboro Hunt Club, Idle Hour Country Club,the Lexington CIub and Iroquois Hunt Club.

received a scam phone call where the caller impersonated a
Yum! executive requesting payment. Review the tips belowon how to protect yourselfagainst this new phone scamtargeting Yum! brand restaurants.What Happened?. The caller ID displayed the caller as Yum! Brands andthe number closely matched that of the actual corporate officeline in Louisville, but with the wrong area code (area codeshown was 520 instead of 502).. The caller stated that a recent audit of the restaurant'scash records showed an outstanding balance that needed to bepaid immediately, and threatened to close the restaurant if theamount failed to be paid.. The caller sounded very professional, wasauthoritative and appeared to have details about the restaurant.ACTION:. Always be cautious when receiving calls that ask forpersonal or payment information (KFC Corporate would notask for these details).. If you are ever suspicious that a phone call may not belegitimate, do not provide the caller with any information.Instead, promptly contact your above-restaurant leader orfranchise office directly regarding the situation, as they willhave access to the appropriate corporate contacts who canvalidate the call..
