ADMIN TEAM NOTES SHIVON My heart is still on fire from the experience of all singing together in the beautiful Alix Golden Hall last weekend. I continue to hear from our guests (over 1200!!), and from Ann Mortifee and her band, how blown away they were by your performance. Ten years ago, Desmond Tutu wrote to us about the meaning of Ubuntu: Â “I am because you are. I need you to be you so that I can me. A choir is a choir only because its different parts work together harmoniously. Yes, a person truly is a person only through other persons. God bless you in your noble endeavour.”• Last Friday and Saturday nights, approx. 200 of us stepped outside of our individual “me” personas, into one giant “we” - and sang in a way that was a perfect expression of Ubuntu. I was so proud of you all, and of what we have achieved together. Today (Tuesday) at noon, at High Noon Choir, we’ll be having our singing-open-house wrap up for the season, and then I will be turning my attention to all the last minute details before I leave for Mozambique on Sunday. I will carry you all in my heart as I travel there, and spend a month with Perpetua and her crew, and taking in all the great work that you have been supporting over the past 5 years since my last visit. Thank you so much for all you do to nurture Ubuntu spirit in our choir community. I look forward to singing with you again in the Fall.

~ Shivon

DENIS Well, wasn't that an amazing weekend of music! I am still a bit high, and a bit exhausted, from the rush of performing to two full houses of very enthusiastic audiences. Thank you so very much, everyone, for all of your dedication, spirit, and most of all your hearts and voices, for helping to make these concerts the best that they could reasonably have been expected to be. The magic on-stage was palpable, and when we sang with Ann, what a gift! Now, I want to wish everyone a wonderful summer full of family, good friends, warmth, and joy. I'll see you all in September ~ Denis

** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** GLORIA It’s been such a pleasure to sing and work with you all this past session. I’ll be looking forward to the fall session and to see what new and wonderful surprises Shivon and Denis will have for us i.e. guest artist, repertoire etc. etc. And for all you High Noon Choir singers - see you all in the fall. Have a great summer everyone.

~ Gloria

BILL

Well folks it will be 95 days for the GHC and 101days for the HNC until their Fall seasons start. Will we survive the harmonic drought? Tune in on Sept. 19 and/or 27th to find out for sure. In the meantime have a great summer and sing whenever, wherever, however and with whoever you can! Hopefully I will see some of you at the “Eyes on Talent” Fun-d raising variety show that former GHC Alto Junie Swadron is organizing for June 26

th at 7pm in the Church of Truth.

ADMIN APPRECIATIONS

CONCERT APPRECIATIONS There are so many people who helped to make our Concerts such a success. FROM THE CHOIR:

a) I would like to thank all of you who helped me sell tickets at choir for the weeks leading up to the Concerts and to all of you choir members who sold tickets to their friends and relatives ….we couldn’t have such great audiences without your efforts.

b) I would also like to especially thank Jo Volek who was my right hand woman, selling tickets, doing all of the donation envelopes and stuffing them, in the programs, and helping me in so many other ways. Also thank Rona Archer who helped Jo with the program stuffing.

c) Many thanks to Jessica Whittingham’s amazing handling of everything at the front door as well as some very inventive management of the display set-up and sale of the African Clothing and Fabric at intermission.

d) Thanks to all of you who helped usher at the front doors.

e) Thanks to the CD and Book sellers at intermission. Kevin McGinn, Ravindra, Nel Snyders and Marie Kirby.

f) Thanks to the “Roadies” who helped with chairs, music stands etc. etc. and made it look easy.

SPECIAL THANKS TO: All the stores who volunteer to sell tickets for us, Munroe’s Books, Ivy’s Books, James Bay Coffee and Books and Dig This (Broadmead). Please patronize these stores if you get a chance. ~ Sincerely - Gloria

FAN APPRECIATIONS My thanks to all who responded to my call for fans for the concert… Barb McLintock, Cathy Roper, Christy Sebelius, Eileen Lowey, Ferne Nowlan, Maggie Burns, Marilyn Caviness, Pam Liebich and Wendy Gedney. Also to Garry Abar who took on the responsibility of making sure they were all on and off at the appropriate times. In particular my thanks to Barb McLintock for transporting my 4 fans to and from the concerts and for supervising the removal of them all on Saturday night so that I could head over to Floyds to warn the staff that the ravening hordes were about to descend upon them. ~ Bill

GHC NEWS & BUSINESS

CONCERT COMMENTS

If you were among the current GHC singers who responded to the June 12 “GHC Post Concert” email by adding a comment to our site's concerts page consider checking back to see what comments were added after yours. As of now (June 15th) people have added interesting post-concert comments (#s 8 to 19) to that page along with the pre-concert comments (#s 1 to 7) that were already there. If you haven’t checked them out yet go for it, they offer some enjoyable and upbeat reading. If you have impressions, stories, thoughts or feelings to share about your concert experience on stage or in the audience please add them while you are there. Then check back in a couple of days to see anything new that was added after you.

The bottle depot at Glanford, Queens and Quadra have given us the months of June and July as their chosen charity.
