Cigar List Unlike fine wines, Havana cigars do not suffer excessively from “good" and “bad"

years. However, like fine wines, Havanas do improve with age. We are delighted

to offer you The Boisdale Vintage Selection of aged cigars. These aged cigars are

limited edition, which unfortunately do not attract members’ discounts. All boxes of Havanas officially imported into the UK carry a colour-coded English

Market Selection (“EMS") label which enables the connoisseur to determine the

year in which duty was paid on the cigar. The vintages quoted in this list are

derived from the EMS label and indicate the minimum age of the cigar, although

not the year of harvest of the tobacco from which it is made. Members of The Boisdale Jazz & Cigar Club receive a 20% discount on cigar prices

except for The Boisdale Vintage Selection and limited edition. For information

about becoming a Member of the Boisdale Jazz & Cigar Club, please speak to the

manager on duty.

Vintages are quoted according to the English Market Selection label which is affixed when Havana cigars are cleared by the UK customs. The

Boisdale Vintage Selection cigars are marked with an asterisk (*) and are not eligible for Members’ discount. Please note the vintage quoted

was correct at the time of print thus vintages may differ.

Davidoff founded by Zino Davidoff after second world war in 1967 Davidoff was approached by Cuba where there where rolled for Fidel Castro till the embargo where it moved to Dominican

Republic and then Nicaragua. The cigars made are smooth ranging from light to full with a slight chocolate and coffee flavor.

The Cuaba was introduced in London in November 1996. Cuaba is a word from the Taino Indian

language describing a special type of bush which burns very well. The Cuaba is a figurado, the

most popular shape in the world until the beginning of this century. Do not be surprised if two

Cuabas from the same box are not exactly the same shape - we have watched them being

rolled in Boisdale and they are extremely difficult to make.

Montecristo was founded as recently as 1935 by the owners of the H.Upmann factory. Using a

specially graded ligero leaf in the filler and a slightly oily wrapper, they created a nuance of

flavour which has delighted the palates of cigar smokers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Lord Grade

and Tom Jones. The most popular Havana in Britain which is rewarded by the UK receiving

supplies of the highest quality.

Founded in 1845 by Jaime Partagas, this is one of the oldest of Havana brands and historically

one of England’s most fashionable featuring in the novels of Evelyn Waugh. Made in the original

factory in downtown Havana, it is generally regarded as one of the richer Cuban cigars, the ideal

Ramon Allones emigrated from Galicia to Cuba and founded his brand in 1837. His recipe,

which has survived for more than 150 years, is now rolled at the Partagas factory and includes a

The Quai d’Orsay brand was created by Cuba tabaco in 1973 for the French state tobacco

monopoly, SEITA, and was blended with French tastes in mind, being a milder brand. There are

a few competing stories as to what the marque’s name refers to: one is that it is referring

simply to the famous Paris avenue, another is that it refers to the French Foreign Ministry that

is located on it, and another is that it is referring to the headquarters of SEITA which is also on

the same avenue.

Since 1875 Romeo y Julieta has been amongst the best known and most respected Havana

brands. Much of its popularity is owed to one “Pepin" Fernandez Rodriguez who bought the

factory in 1903 and thereafter personally promoted the cigars throughout the world offering

personalised bands to monarchs and heads of state. Romeo is a medium flavoured cigar, famed

for its consistency.

Named after the 16th century city of La Satisima Trinidad, Trinidads are Habano’s mystery cigar.

Made since 1969 at the Cohiba factory, only small quantities were made as diplomatic gifts.

reputation of premium tobacco leaf and faultless making. Once the rarest of the Habanos, a
