Career Fair Admission

ONLY currently enrolled UAH students and alumni are admitted into the career

fair.

Current students must present their Charger ID at registration the day of the

event. Alumni must provide ID and register at the alumni table the day of the

event.

Professional dress is required for admittance. If you are unsure what to wear,

please contact the Career Office for assistance. Due to the amount of time that

you will be on your feet at the event, we encourage you to wear conservative,

comfortable, professional shoes.

Do your research! Review the companies on the Registered Employer list to see

how your major and experience fits the needs of the company.

Be prepared to speak about your interests and the type of position that you're

interested in. Be as clear and concise as possible. The recruiters are there to

assist you and provide information, but unless they know specifically what your

goals are, they may not be able to help.

Attend workshops presented by your career coordinator or the career office.

Take advantage of as many employer led information sessions or workshops as

possible. Remember this is another way to network and make connections.

Bring multiple copies of your resume on resume-quality paper which can be

purchased at any office supply store but remember that most companies will ask

you to upload your resume. Be sure to do that and then follow up with them!

Plan to be there as early as your schedule will allow.

Tips for a Successful Interview Day

Several companies attending career fair will participate in an optional

campus interview day the day following career fair.

Some employers post positions and fill their interview schedule up prior to

the event while others like to select candidates at career fair.

If you’re selected to interview, you’ll receive a card with the company’s name

and your interview time and location.

Remember to be on time for your interview. Being punctual is always

necessary, but especially so on Interview Day. Companies stack their

interviews up back to back throughout the whole day.

o Being late to the interview can definitely cost you the job!!

Professional dress is require and if you need to wear what you wore to

career fair, don’t worry that the employer will remember what your wore or

think badly of you. They understand that you may not have a complete

professional wardrobe just yet.

Bring another copy of your resume, your references and a copy of your

unofficial transcript for each interview – you may have multiple interviews

that day.

Be clear, concise and complete in your answers during the interview.

Remember you don’t have much time to make a great impression!

Above all, relax…but not too much! Employers want to know what you know

but they also want to know who you are. Being pleasant is a plus.

Do your research on the company. Know who they are and how your fit their

needs.

Follow up with a thank you after the interview.
