Here are some tips that may help you beforewashing.

Sorting your laundrySort items according to:• how soiled they are• colour• material

Clothing1. Do up zips and closeVelcro straps so that they

don’t harm fabrics.2. New coloured items may contain excess dye

and should therefore be washed separatelythe first few times.

3. Turn delicate items inside out. This reducesthe risk of burling and fading.

4. Empty pockets and wash them inside out ifpossible.

Laundry labelsLook at the item's laundry label. The table belowshows suitable wash programmes for differentmaterials andwash loads. Usingmodernwashingmachines and detergents, for example compactdetergents, you can usually wash at lowertemperatures. It is a good idea to use trial anderror to find out what produces the best results.

Laundry label symbolsExamples of washing instructions and recommendedprogrammes. Always follow thewashing instructionsfor each garment.

Advice and tips before washing

Page 11: ȽʹÌÁÆ¿ ÆËÌÊÍ»ÌÁÇÆË ¹ËÀÁÆ¿ ¹»ÀÁƽ W288 ECO EN.pdf · 2019-10-08 · Dear ISE customer! Welcome to the family of ISE customers. We hope that you will

Hot water connectionHot water intake has a positive effect on greasestains and certain pigment stains, such as oil, sootand coffee. Note however that difficult proteinstains with albumen content (blood, milk, meatand fish) first need to be soaked in cold water asthey are difficult to dissolve at temperatures above40 °C. For the best washing results werecommend the Super wash option andpre-soaking the stained items in coldwater beforewashing them in the machine.

Coloured cottonColoured cotton itemswith thewashing instruction60 °C should be washed at 60 °C for the first timein order to remove any excess dye. If you do notdo so, there is a risk that the colour will run. Usedetergent without bleach in order to preserve thecolour of the fabric.

Unbleached linenUnbleached linen fabrics should bewashed at 60°C, using detergent containing nobleachor opticalwhiteners. Heavily-soiled linen can occasionallybe washed at higher temperatures, but not toooften because the heat can destroy the linen’sshine and strength.

WoolThese fabrics are labelled either machine washor hand wash. The Wool/hand wash programmeis at least as gentle as washing by hand.Wool is especially sensitive to processes such aswashing. If you do not wish to spin dry, you can squeezeout thewater using terry towels. In this case selectNo spin.To find out how to choose this setting, see the"Washing" chapter. However, most garments canwithstand a short spin. Choose a short spin byselecting a spin speed of 800 rpm or less.

Rayon fibres and synthetic fibresMaterials made of rayon fibres, such as viscose, and some synthetic fibres are very delicate andrequiremuch space so as not to crease. Only halffill the drum when washing and choose a spinspeed of 800 rpm or lower.

NOTE!

Viscose and acetates are fragile when wet.

Reducing allergic reactionsThe washing machine has a Super Rinse option.Use this for people with sensitive skin, such asthose with allergies and small children.

Save time and energyUse the Colour/White programme to save timeand energy. This programme has a shorter mainwash thanNormal, but is often sufficient for lightlysoiled washing.

High water levelIf you want more water for the main wash andrinses, you can use the High water level option.High water level is used automatically in theWool/Hand programme.

Economy and efficiencyYou can save a lot of energy by not using highertemperature programs than necessary.• Select Quick if you just need to freshen up

shirts or exercise clothes, for example. Thiswill save both water and energy.

• If you select a fast spin speed, this reducesenergy consumption when drying in a tumbledryer or drying cabinet.

• Always wash with a full load when using theHeavy,Colour/White andNormal programmes.

• Avoid pre-washing. Modern machines anddetergents clean effectively withoutpre-washing. Pre-washing is only necessaryfor heavily soiled washing.

DetergentsEco-labelled detergents are less harmful to theenvironment.Detergent overdosing does not give betterwashing results; it merely causes a greater impacton the environment.Try to use less detergent, and increase only if youare not satisfied with the results.

Dyeing fabricsIf you want to dye fabrics in the machine, selecttheColour/White programmewith theSuperRinseoption. Select temperature according to the dyemanufacturer’s recommendations.Choose a low spin speed if the fabric to be dyedis a blended material such aspolyester/cotton.

NOTE!

Add the dye directly to the washing drum – notto the detergent compartment. After dyeing, youshould run the machine empty using the sameprogram. Use the normal amount of detergent.

NOTE!

Due to environmental concerns, we discouragethe use of strong chemicals. When using agents for bleaching or stainremoval, there is a risk of rust (corrosion) anddiscolouration of the machine.

The above table presents a few examples of the energy, water and time consumption of a few different programme settings. Consumptioncan vary depending on water pressure, water hardness, water supply temperature, room temperature, load weight and content, variationsin the power supply and selected options. These,in turn, may lead to unpleasant smells developing. To avoid this, we recommend running a 90 °Cwash programme once a month. When you dothis, use a small quantity of detergent. It is notnecessary to put any washing in the machine.

Connection to water supplyWater connection should be carried out by anappropriately qualified person. Connect themachine using the accompanying supply hose.Water pressure should be 0.1–1MPa (approx.1–10kp/cm2 ; 10–100N/cm2). There should be astopcock on the water pipe.If the pipes are newly installed, it may be wise toflush them through so that any dirt is washedaway. Otherwise, dirt can clog the filter in themachine’s water intake and cut off the watersupply.

Use only the supply hose supplied with themachine. Do not re-use old hoses or other loosesupply hoses.Hot water connectionA few seconds after you start a programme thewashing machine will begin to fill with water fromboth the hot and the cold supplies. If for somereason no hot water is available, the machinewaits for one minute and then fills with cold wateronly. The wash drum does not start to rotate untilit begins to fill with water. However, if you choose to connect yourECO-machine to only the coldwater it is importantthat you shut off the hot water connection. Seechapter "Settings" for information on how to switchbetween "Hot water On" and "Hot water Off".

Drainage connectionThe machine is supplied with a drainage hoseattached, which must be connected to a drain.See the examples below. The height must be600-900 mm above floor level. The lower position (600mm) is always preferable.Ensure that the drainage hose has no kinks.
