Exercise 2 (1) •Vocabulary: The letter of application for a job Click on the appropriate word or phrase to complete the letter. I would like to be (considered/examined) for the for the post of Travel Agent as per your advertisement on the careers.com website. I am confident that my experience in the travel industry, my qualifications and professionalism as well as my personal attitude will make me a(n) (prospect/asset) to the success of your company. I am currently working for Zeus Travel Agents and I have made numerous contributions to them as well as previous (employees/employers). Exercise 4 (1) • Expressions

In the text, a tourist guide explains a tour in Athens. Fill in the gaps with the phrases: a couple of hours, of historical interest, find ourselves, take in the view, to take this opportunity, is expected to take, will be heading

Before we start the tour, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our route. We will be visiting most of the main places of historical interest in the city, and will start with one of a handful of places in the world that is so well known, the Acropolis. The Acropolis does not disappoint. It is as beautiful as its photographs but it is infuriatingly crowded. What you want there is time -- time to watch the Parthenon's columns; time to stand on the Belvedere and take in the view over Athens, and pictures of course; time to think of all those who have been here before you.

Exercise 4 (2) After that, we will be visiting the glass-and-concrete façade of this 21,000-square-meter startlingly modern museum of the Acropolis. It will take us a couple of hours and I’m afraid you will be pretty exhausted after that, so we will be heading into the Plaka to enjoy souvlaki and beer in a taverna. You can stroll Plaka’s picturesque streets and buy souvenirs or –if you don’t lack the energy –we can run up the slope of Acropolis and find ourselves in Anafiotica- an old neighborhood- and have a cup of coffee. Finally, in the afternoon, we’ll be visiting the Ancient Agora, the Roman Agora, the Tower of Winds and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The tour is expected to take seven hours, so we will be back here by about five o’clock.
