Our journey started when I noticed that my 24 monthold son’s eyes were not aligning correctly. Our trip to theophthalmologist confirmed Accommodative Esotopia.

His condition Hyperopia is a result of a small eye, whichcaused his eyes to strain so much that they crossed andeventually one eye became lazy.

The only correction was to wear thick convex lensesand to wear an eye patch to prevent a lazy eye knownas Amblyopia.

The limited choice of frames on the market at the timewith nose pads were only in metal. They were heavyand bulky and constantly kept falling off his face.Compliance was poor as my son refused to wear themdue to the discomfort and weight. His conditionworsened.

There was nothing available that could cater for a smallchild’s head with a flat bridge. My disappointment wassuch that I was compelled to make his frames on my own.

This sparked the beginning of Tomato Glasses: acompany and product born out of the affection and loveI have for my child. His vision improved and with thehelp of surgery his vision is now normal.

I am glad I did not give up on him and ever so gratefulthat the Tomato Glasses helped him. I am also humbledto know that my passion and love for my son is nowhelping and supporting other children and parentsacross the globe that require custom fitted, lightweightand comfortable glasses. Children can now leave thesespectacles on, with amazing success and great comfort.Tomato Glasses are frames that fit to a child’s facerather than the child fitting the frame. GLASSESThe bridge of the glasses matches the curve of the nose and therefore holds the glasses comfortably in place and prevents them from slipping down.

ADJUSTABLE TEMPLE LENGTHSIt is easy and simple to adjust the length of the temples.To shorten them, remove the ear tip and cut off theexcess length. Replace ear tips and secure these inposition using the screws. To lengthen the temples, pullthe ear tips back and secure in place with the screws.

ADJUSTABLE NOSE PAD HEIGHTSThe nose pads can be attached to three points of theframe (five points on the baby range frames). As everychild’s face is unique, this feature allows the correctplacement and height to be achieved for each child.

A STANDARD HEAD STRAPAll Tomato Glasses frames come with a head strapwhich attaches to the ear tips. They have beendesigned to prevent the glasses from slipping even withhigh powered lenses. The head strap provides securitywhen running and jumping, making Tomato Glassesgreat for active children. They are also perfect forchildren with sensitive ears.

The 35-13 frame is recommended for newborn babies upto approximately 6 months old while the 37-13 frame is for babies approximately 6 months to 1 year old and the39-14 up to approximately 2 years old.

As a baby’s face shape will grow during their early years,the TBAC range is highly adjustable and will accommodatethese changes. The TBAC frame can be used with highpowered lenses from -25 diopters through to +33 diopters.The baby frames can be adjusted along the horizontal and

vertical axis. With 5 positions available to attach the nosepads, the nose pad height can be adjusted to provide thecorrect position.

There are 3 different sized nose pads that can change thedistance between the eyes and lenses. The flexibletemples, comfortable ear tips and headband ensures the frame remains in place when babies are lying down or breast feeding.

A very flexible frame for the utmostcomfort which is highly adjustable toaccommodate a baby's rapid growth.

NOSE PAD FITTING KITFurther research has indicated the need to cater for avariety of nose shapes. We have therefore developed arange of different sized nose pads, Baby fit (B1, B2, B3),Asian fit (A1, A2, A3) and Wide fit (W1, W2, W3). Allnose pads are interchangeable on frames and the fittingkit stores all nine sizes of nose pad. This kit will allowoptometrists and opticians to custom fit the frames toeach child therefore offering the best customer service.

Our Reserch and Development team have created aSpacer Kit. It is designed to create space between thelenses and a child’s eyelashes or face when using highpowered lenses.
