ASSESSMENTS FOR ON CAMPUS STUDENTS (JANUARY 2021 SEMESTER)

Students are informed that the final examinations (including supplementary examinations) for the ODL-i Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree students (Full Time Studies) in the January 2021 Semester scheduled to be held in April 2021 will be conducted via alternative assessments including online quiz and assignments. The full details and submission deadlines for the alternative assessments are as follows: -

i. For Online Quiz

Students are required to take individual online quiz via the Learning Management System (LMS)

The online quiz will be available from 12th April 2021, Monday (00:00) until 15th April 2021, Thursday (23:59)

ii. For Assignment

The assignment will be available in the LMS on 15th March 2021, Monday (00:00)

Completed assignments must be submitted via the LMS (for all students) and e-mail (for re-sit students) by 9th April 2021, Friday (23:59)

The specific details for all ODL-i courses, date to access/download assignment questions and submission deadlines are provided in Appendix 1

For Supplementary Examination courses, the completed assignments must be submitted via email to your respective Course Leads according to the submission deadlines in Appendix 1

iii. Refer to the attached guide (Appendix 2) on how to access the Online Quiz and Assignment in the

LMS

iv. There will be no extension of deadlines for the alternative assessments above

v. The percentages contributed by the alternative assessments are the same as the originally scheduled proctored examinations

GUIDELINE ON HOW TO ACCESS THE ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENTS (ONLINE QUIZ / ASSIGNMENT) IN THE FLEXLEARN LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS)

1. Log in to the FlexLearn LMS (https://flexlearn.wou.edu.my).

2. You can find the list of courses you have enrolled for the January 2021 Semester on the left column

under “My Courses”.

3. Click on a course.

4. Follow the instructions given below to attempt the Online Quiz/Assignment: I) Online Quiz

a) Click “Quizzes” on the course navigation bar.

b) Scroll to “ODL-i Online Quiz Final Jan 2021”. c) Click on the name of the quiz to open it. You will be navigated to the “Summary” page. d) On the “Summary” page you will find information about the quiz. e) Under “Quiz Details” you will find the information on the user, the deadline and the

availability. Also, the time limit when taking the quiz, how many attempts are allowed and how many you have attempted.

f) Under “Instructions” you will find a description that will help you take the quiz.

g) Click “Start Quiz!” to start the quiz.

h) After you have clicked “Start Quiz!” you will be navigated to the page with questions.

When you answer a question, the answer will be saved automatically. It is possible to change your answer before you submit your quiz. After you have submitted all questions, you have to click “Submit Quiz”.

i) A final window will appear. If you want to change any of your answers, you have to click “Back to Questions”. If you feel certain about all of your answers, click “Submit Quiz” to submit them.

j) After you have taken a quiz and have no remaining attempts, an “Attempt 1” summary

will appear that shows the details of the quiz. Under “Submission View” you will see that your quiz has been submitted successfully. There is no further possibility to take the quiz again.

k) Click “Done” to close the quiz.

II) Assignment a) Click “Assignments” on the course tab.

b) You will be navigated to the “Assignments” homepage. c) Click “ODL-i Assignment for Final (Jan 2021)”. d) The assignment details are listed here. Read the instructions carefully. e) “Submit Assignment” is where you hand in the assignment. Click “Add a File” to upload

your assignment.

f) When you click “Add a File”, a window appears. g) Click “Upload” or drag your file to the Upload field. Note: FlexLearn supports different

types of files, but the name of your file must end in a valid file extension (e.g., .doc, .docx, .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .txt). To make sure your upload is as smooth and secure as possible, zip the file and then upload the zip file.

h) The file you uploaded will be listed in the next step. Click “Add” to submit them.

i) Click “Submit” to submit your assignment if you are certain everything is filled out

properly. Next, an overview of what you just uploaded to FlexLearn will appear. Click “Done” to return to the Assignments homepage.
