school

Mingalaba!

We, One Dollar Fund – Myanmar (ODF Myanmar), would like to ask for cooperation of your organization in our relief and rehabilitation efforts around flooded areas in My-anmar.

About ODFFirst of all, let us give a brief introduction of ODF Myanmar. In order to offer a helping hand as much as we can in fulfilling basic needs for orphans, education, healthcare and natural disasters in Myanmar, ODF Myanmar was founded in February 2010.

Since then, our activities have been publicized to donors from different countries, via our website: www.odfmyanmar.org.

From its establishment to June 2015, ODF Myanmar, with the cooperation of our do-nors, had assisted over 0.1 million SGD to different needy places.

Proposal on CooperationAs part of our organization’s rehabilita-tion efforts, we are working together w i t h S P I N E A r c h i t e c t s (http://www.spinearchitects.com) and UCSD Structural Engineers Group to build a flood resistant school building in Minn Phoo Village in Minbya Township, Rakhine State. Building design is do-nated by SPINE Architects and USCD Structural Engineers Group.

Minn Phoo Village is the place which was flooded entirely due to the recent flood. That is why the building which we are planning to donate is designed to serve as both a school building and a flood-resistant shelter during a flood.

The estimated cost for the building is about 35 millions Kyats (35,000,000 Kyats). As an initial fund, ODF Myanmar has contributed 10 million Kyats (10,000,000 Kyats) and SPINE Archi-tects has donated 1,300,000 Kyats.

The building will have two storeys with an area of 60x40 square feet and will be able to accommodate up to 200 stu-dents. In the occurrence of a flood, the building will be clear from 15-feet water level and its rooftop can serve as a shel-ter if the water level increases up to 25 feet.

Currently, the project funding still has a long way to go – we are about 16.1 mil-lions Kyats (i.e. 46% of the whole pro-ject) behind the goal. Hence, we would like to initiate a cooperation proposal to your organization.

Moreover, please be informed that SPINE Architects will donate building de-signs to any organizations or individuals who are interested in donating those flood resistant buildings in Rakine State or other places.

We are targeting to commence the con-struction process some time in October 2015.
