Here we are in October! I hope this Newsletter finds everyonewell and happy!Did you know: The word October comes from the Latin wordOcto, which means eight. In ancient Rome, October was theeighth month of the year. When the Gregorian calendar wasadopted, it became the tenth month of the year. It is one of theseven months with thirty days in it. If you were born in October:Happy Birthday, did you know you also share your birthday

month with many famous people, such as: Julie Andrews, MattDamon, Carrie Fisher, Kate Winslet, Theodore Roosevelt,Ozzy Osbourne, Gwen Stefani, John Lennon and many more!

This month we welcome aboard all of our New ExecutiveCommittee Members: we look forward to long, fruitfulrelationships with you all. And we thank you all for your passion& commitment to Birthright Taupo Inc.

As we approach the silly season again, can I just take thisopportunity to remind everyone Christmas is about Whanau,friends and happy times/memories for the ch ildren. It does not

have to be about money and getting into debt! We are pleasedto inform that Birthright Taupo will be holding a Christmas Partyagain at the beach for all Birthright Taupo members and yourchildren. The date is yet to be confirmed! (Watch this space forfurther details) Huge thank you to Variety the Childrens Charityfor funding this! The Birthright Taupo Team had such a greattime with you all at last years Christmas Party, we cant wait tosee you all again at this years celebration!

Funding: We have been very successful in securing someexciting funding opportunities for our Birthright Children to helpyou as a Single Parent to provide Birthrights and opportunitiesfor your Children. These funding opportunities will be featuredin the Newsletters, please check them out and make sure yourmembership details and fees are up to date. For those of youthat have done so, we thank you! Your fees help us to helpyou and ensure your eligibility to funding opportunities.

KidsCan Mission: To meet the

physical and nutritional needs of

Kiwi kids less fortunate than othersso they can be more engaged in

their education and have a better

chance of reaching their potential in

life.

KidsCan Vision:Our vision is of

a New Zealand where less fortunate

children have an equal opportunity

to make a positive contribution to

society.

This fun event involves a 2-3km run/walk with

everyone dressed as Santa's. Santa Run entry fee's

start as low as $8 for a child and $20 for an adult

participate in Santa Runs which will be held in 16

locations across the nation (see below) and our

goal is to continue to grow the event by adding
