I hope and pray that you have enjoyed it and I pray that God has shown you more of His Word and more of His work in Christ throughout this series. My main hope and aim in this series was that we would see the Bible as one big story. It is the story of God and His Kingdom, His people, His Christ, and His Creation. One of the ways we know this is by seeing how Jesus speaks to his disciples at the end of Luke’s gospel (Luke 24). Essentially he tells them that the entire Old Testament is about him. Everything is pointing to him. The offices of the priest, king, prophet, etc. have always pointed to Christ. The tabernacle and temple have pointed to Christ. Israel as a nation has pointed to Christ. Everything has pointed to him and his people. And this means that the Bible as a whole is a unified story. It is God’s Story being worked out and played out right before our eyes. We will see this especially as we enter the New Testament. The Old Testament begins to be a living illus- tration of Christ and His Church. The promise to Abraham has always pointed to Christ as the offspring and his church. The promise of land has always pointed to the New Heavens and New Earth where God’s people will dwell forever to- gether with Christ. The Kingdom and Kingship has always pointed to Christ reigning and ruling over his people forever and ever. In short, the Bible finds its climax and resolution in Jesus Christ and his church. And knowing this should help us read our Bibles better. We are reading every book, every promise, every verse in light of the Gospel. With that said, we should be careful. We do not want to force Jesus into places where he does not belong in the Old Testament. We do not want to use our imaginations more than we use our Biblical understanding. What I mean is, Jesus is not meant to be forced into EVERY verse of the Bible, but every verse should be read with Christ and the Gospel in mind. For example, Genesis 38 is an incredibly odd passage. We have Judah and we have Tamar his daughter in law (38:11). Later on, Tamar deceived Judah and sleeps with him. Is Jesus in this passage? Yes and No. He is in it in the sense that Judah’s sons were dead and there was no one to carry on the line of Judah (from which the Lion of the Judah would come), and so Tamar deceived Judah, slept with him, got pregnant, and had a child named Perez who carries on the line of Judah to David and finally Christ (Matthew 1:3). In this sense, we read the passage knowing that it is a thread (even an odd, sinful thread) in the fabric of the story which brings us to the Messiah. So we must be careful how we read the Bible, even with Christ at the center. So, at the end of the day, my hope and prayer is that this series will help us all read our Bibles in a way that is more honoring to Christ and so that that we better understand how the Bible fits together as a whole. It is the most amazing book in the universe and I pray that we love it as a church, craving to see more and more every day. Love you all, Pastor T

October Newsletter 2016 This is the final month for our Cover to Cover series. I hope and pray that you have enjoyed it and I pray

that God has shown you more of His Word and more of His work in Christ throughout this series.

My main hope and aim in this series was that we would see the Bible as one big story. It is the story of God

and His Kingdom, His people, His Christ, and His Creation. One of the ways we know this is by seeing how Jesus

speaks to his disciples at the end of Luke’s gospel (Luke 24). Essentially he tells them that the entire Old Testament is

about him. Everything is pointing to him.

The offices of the priest, king, prophet, etc. have always pointed to Christ. The tabernacle and temple have

pointed to Christ. Israel as a nation has pointed to Christ. Everything has pointed to him and his people. And this

means that the Bible as a whole is a unified story. It is God’s Story being worked out and played out right before our

    eyes.

We will see this especially as we enter the New Testament. The Old Testament begins to be a living illus-

tration of Christ and His Church. The promise to Abraham has always pointed to Christ as the offspring and his church.

The promise of land has always pointed to the New Heavens and New Earth where God’s people will dwell forever to-

gether with Christ. The Kingdom and Kingship has always pointed to Christ reigning and ruling over his people forever

    and ever.

In short, the Bible finds its climax and resolution in Jesus Christ and his church. And knowing this should

help us read our Bibles better. We are reading every book, every promise, every verse in light of the Gospel.

With that said, we should be careful. We do not want to force Jesus into places where he does not belong

in the Old Testament. We do not want to use our imaginations more than we use our Biblical understanding. What I

mean is, Jesus is not meant to be forced into EVERY verse of the Bible, but every verse should be read with Christ and

    the Gospel in mind.

For example, Genesis 38 is an incredibly odd passage. We have Judah and we have Tamar his daughter in

law (38:11). Later on, Tamar deceived Judah and sleeps with him. Is Jesus in this passage? Yes and No. He is in it in

the sense that Judah’s sons were dead and there was no one to carry on the line of Judah (from which the Lion of the

Judah would come), and so Tamar deceived Judah, slept with him, got pregnant, and had a child named Perez who

carries on the line of Judah to David and finally Christ (Matthew 1:3).

In this sense, we read the passage knowing that it is a thread (even an odd, sinful thread) in the fabric of

the story which brings us to the Messiah. So we must be careful how we read the Bible, even with Christ at the center.

So, at the end of the day, my hope and prayer is that this series will help us all read our Bibles in a way

that is more honoring to Christ and so that that we better understand how the Bible fits together as a whole. It is the

most amazing book in the universe and I pray that we love it as a church, craving to see more and more every day.

    Love you all,

    QUESTIONS ABOUT

    MEMBERSHIP?

Are you thinking about becoming a member of

NCCC? Pastor Tyler (524-5592) or Nate Wright

(524-6379) are here to answer any questions

you may have. You can also check out our web-

site at www.ncccin.com. Click on the “About

Us” tab at the top of the page & you will see the

“membership” page on the left hand side. This

will give you all the info you need on becoming

    a member!

Interested in being part of the music/worship minis-

try at NCCC? We are always looking for new members

to be a part of this vital ministry within NCCC! We

have an immediate need for a drummer, bass, guitar,

and audio/video for Sunday morning services. We al-

so invite singers and other instrumentalists to speak

with us about joining this ministry. We would love to

have enough people to start a rotation of singers and

instrumentalists. If you are interested, please see Pas-

tor Tyler or our worship leader, Nate Wright!

    IMPORTANT CHANGE…

TLC WILL BE MOVING FROM THE 3RD

TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH TO THE 3RD

THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH. ALL LADIES

    ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THIS

    WONDEFUL TIME OF FELLOWSHIP! SEE

    SUSANNE CHRISWELL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

    JR. CHURCH NEEDS

If you would like to help with snacks and/or drinks for the Jr. Church

kids, we would greatly appreciate it. We are trying to stick to indi-

vidually packaged items (goldfish, cheese itz, etc.) so that each child

has the same thing. Please, nothing with nuts as we have some kiddos

with allergies. Juice boxes are great to help prevent pouring and

spills. You may leave the items in the kitchen downstairs. THANK

YOU FOR YOUR HELP! If you have questions, please see Shannon

    Wright.

    TRUNK OR TREAT

We will be having our annual trunk or treat again this year. We are unsure of

the exact date trick or treating will take place but will update when we know. If

you’d like to participate, we will have a soup/salad/sandwich pitch-in before

    we start passing out candy.

LOVE GOD. UNITE TOGETHER. SERVE THE WORLD

"“We exist to spread the joy of knowing Jesus Christ to all peoples through the Gospel."

    Jeff Kundert, Executive Director

    of Westminster Community Cen-

ter, will be here on Sunday, Octo-

ber 30, to discuss their mission.

    Their mission statement is, "To

serve all of God's people, To en-

rich the lives of children, To nur-

ture the family, And to improve

    the well-being of the communi-

    ty." Westminster Community

Center is located at 2600 C Ave in

New Castle. They can be contact-

    ed at (765) 529-5124 .

IMPORTANT INFO FROM MAHONING VALLEY CAMP

    We hope you'll join us, Sunday, October 2nd, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for

“Appreciation Day and Open House.” We also hope you’ll “Bring a Friend” to

camp that day. In lieu of the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, we would like all

volunteers to attend this special Open House at the camp to show your friends

what you’ve been up to around here and introduce them to the ministry of the

camp. Everyone is invited to this special Get-together, whether you have had a

chance to come out and help at Mahoning Valley this year or not. It’s another

    opportunity for encouragement and fellowship.

Mahoning Valley has officially hired Jeremy as the Minister

of Volunteers. Jeremy is no longer a “self-contractor” or self-employed, he is an

employee of the camp. He does still need to raise his own funds, and any

contributions sent to the camp toward this ministry should have “Support Staff

01” written on the memo line of the check. His funding is currently lacking in

support of $1,200 per month. So if you know of someone who is looking for a

ministry to support, consider pointing them this direction. The name

“Coordinator” of Volunteers has changed to “Minister” of Volunteers for tax

purposes, but responsibilities will remain the same.

FAMILY CAMP! Family camp at MVCSC will be October 14-16. See the bulletin

    board downstairs for more info.

    The Missions Team made the

    following disbursements/gifts

    for the month of September…

    The Guest House- $300

    IDES- $500 (Designated for

the help of the Kokomo torna-

    do relief)

    *IDES stands for International

    Disaster Emergency Service, Inc.

    Their mission statement is, "IDES

exists to meet physical and spir-

    itual needs of suffering people

    throughout the world in the

    name of Jesus Christ."

Once again, NCCC will be participating in helping with the needs of the Grundy Mountain Mission

School. Items that are donated will be taken to the Mountain Mission in Grundy, VA around

    Thanksgiving time.

“Since 1921, God has brought more than 20,000 at-risk youth out of their distress and into the land of promise that is Grundy’s Mountain Mission School.

We serve as home, church and school to more than 200 kids in need, coming to us not only from Appalachia, but also from more than 60 countries worldwide.

MMS provides each child with the foundation of first-rate academics, a loving family environment,

positive social support, and a firm commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

TLC will be finalizing a list in the next month. It will be posted and we will start collecting donations.
