A Message from Our Pastor: It is always a challenge when we lose somebody close to us. It is an even bigger challenge when it happens unexpectedly, by surprise. Last Sunday, many people were shocked at the terrible news. So many lives were finished in a second. Many of us probably asked the same question: Why? There is no answer why those people were killed and not others. But there is an answer to why it happened. God, in His love, invited us to be with him in this wonderful existence that brings us purpose for life. He gives us His presence so that we are not alone. If a person turns away from it then the human heart becomes open to another dialog based on Satan. He comes with his power and madness to convince everybody that the moral law is a private issue and we should obey only the law created by us. As a consequence, we tolerate wrongdoing and accept wrong behavior. In time, all these elements multiply themselves. It is important to know that Satan doesn’t share his power. Sooner or later his leads to destruction, because he doesn’t love people. Lack of love brings hate and finally brings madness. Human life doesn’t have any value if people are possessed by madness. We pray for those that were killed in Las Vegas. We pray for their families. But we also pray for those that cause this madness. Only God can change their hearts. In Him is our hope. A Message from Our Pastor:

It is always a challenge when we lose somebody close to us.

Adoration in Honor of Our Lady of Fatima

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal, where the Blessed Mother appeared once each month from May 13 until October 13, 1917.

“The message of Fatima highlights many central truths and devotions of the Catholic faith: the Trinity, the Eucharist, penance, the Rosary and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. There is special emphasis on the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which is a refuge of maternal love for us all and a sure path that leads us to God. In the end, Mary’s Immaculate Heart will triumph because Mary is full of God’s grace and is all pure. She has the heart of a mother who cares for her children and wishes them to be saved by her divine Son, Jesus.” (Our Sunday Visitor)

Parishioner, Mary Lou Matz, is offering adoration in honor of Our Lady at her home October 9th - 13th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day. The Rosary and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed during these times. Please contact Mary Lou at 303-790-0960 for specific information.

What’s Happening at Our Parish... Are you a mom of grown children?

We need you!

It’s hard to believe it is Fall, and Winter is just around the cor-ner! Just as we have the changing of seasons in our environment, we also have seasons in our lives. In Spring, we are newlyweds and young parents. In Summer, we have school-aged kids and college kids. In Fall, we become empty-nesters and grandpar-ents. In Winter, we once again are grandparents and maybe even great-grandparents. Can you remember your season of Spring? All the questions and doubts you may have had and the advice you received from those who were in their season of Summer or Fall.

Do you like little kids, sharing life experiences, and keeping in touch with today’s parenting style and challenges? Become a

mentor mom! We are looking for at least 2-3 mentor moms to complete our Mentor Moms team! Learn how parenting has changed and share your wisdom, humor, laughter, tears, faith and encouragement. The PaxMoms MOPS group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 9:30-11:30am. MomsNext meets the 4th Tuesday of each month from 7-9pm. Come be a disciple for Christ. For further information, contact Caroline Fugler at [email protected].

Parent Testimonial for Our Preschool

Dear St. Katharine Drexel Teachers:

We are totally impressed with what you are doing at school. Our daughter loves it so much that she started playing being a teacher and we have so much fun with it at home. Our oth-er kids want to be in her class every evening:)! I think she is acting out all that you do at school:).

All the activities, the garden, general and religious educa-tion, the playground, but most important - how engaged you are with the kids all the time.. there should be a wait list al-ready for a spot in 5 years! We have visited many pre-schools in the area (our all kids just went to one of them) and when we compare the quality, I really can't believe why all Catholic/Christian people wouldn't choose this school.

~ Monika and Andrew Szymczak

*** With the blessing of opening a second classroom,

spots are now available for the 1/2 day Monday-Friday

class and Tuesday/Thursday class.

Please contact Cynthia Vigil at [email protected] or

The basis for the theme of Human Dignity, the bedrock of Catholic Social Teaching, is that humans were created in the image and likeness of God. Regardless of any factors or reasons we can think of, individuals have an inherent and immeasurable worth and dignity; each human life is consid-ered sacred.

Called and Gifted Workshop at Pax Christi

Saturday, October 28, 2017

8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

God has called and gifted you for a mission. When you were baptized, you were given the presence of the Holy Spirit and “charisms,” gifts of the Holy Spirit that enable you to be a channel of God’s love, truth, beauty, mercy, healing, and provision for others. The charisms that you have been given are important clues to your God-given mission in life and Holy Spirit empowered tools to enable you to live it! Join over 100,000 Catholics around the world who have begun to discern their charisms through the Called & Gifted workshop. This workshop is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To register for the workshop, please contact Ginger Giesen, Director of Discipleship at [email protected] or 720-419-0126. Workshop Fee: $55 which includes materials and lunch.

The Catholic Legacy Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named their parish, Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or charitable trust, life insurance policy, or through the establishment of an endowed fund.

The Diocese is grateful to acknowl-edge these special benefactors during their lifetimes. And, in conjunction with our mission, this special society provides an opportunity for benefac-tors to make their philanthropy a perpetual legacy for themselves and an example for their families. It also creates an infrastructure of support that makes our parishes, schools and ministries stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations.

If you have named your parish, a Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs in your estate plan, or are considering doing so, we invite you to become a member of the Catholic Legacy Society.
