Worldwide Communion Sunday October 4, 2009

World Communion Sunday – celebrated the first Sun-day in October – is one of the most venerable of “special Sundays.” The day has taken on new relevancy and depth of meaning in a world where globalization often has undermined peace and justice – and in a time when fear divides the peoples of God's earth. On this day we celebrate our oneness in Christ, the Prince of Peace, in the midst of the world we are called to serve – a world ever more in need of peacemaking.

CALENDARS ARE IN!!

GOD’S CREATIONS 2010

The Missions Committee has a very limited number of

beautiful wall calendars for sale. Each calendar is full

of pictures of God’s wonderful creation and scripture

verses. This is an excellent way to share God’s word with your friends, fam-

ily members, and your co-workers as Christmas gifts. Each calendar is still

only $6.00. Calendars can be purchased in the church office, but hurry - they

won’t last long.

SPECIAL ADVENT SERIES Dr. R. Allen Stewart will lead a special 4 part series based on the book, “The Best Songs Come At Night and Other Christian Proverbs”. The book is available for those that wish to purchase a copy for $10.00 each in the church office. We only have a few books available but will be taking orders. All orders must be in by November 1st. You do not have to have a book to participate in the study. The first three parts of the series will be taught after FNS on Wednesday, November 18th, December 2nd and De-cember 16th. The final part will be taught on Sunday, December 20th as part of the Service of the Dark Night. This will be an interesting and up-lifting study of advent where the popular author, J. Ellsworth Kalas shares proverbial nuggets of wisdom from the biblical Christmas story along with the insights of Dr. Stewart.

Make Christmas a little more meaningful this year by joining in this wonderful study.

“The Best Songs Come At Night…” Book Order Form Tear off and place in the offering plate with your check made to HFUMC,

SAY By: John Mayer

Take all your wasted honor

Every little frustration Take all your so called problems

Better put’em in quotations

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say

Walking like a one man army

Fighting with the shadows in your head Living out the same old moment

Knowing you’d be better off instead If you could only

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say

Have no fear for giving in

Have no fear for giving over You better know that in the end

It’s better to say too much Than never to say what you need to say again

Even if your hands are shaking

And your faith is broken Even as the eyes are closing Do it with a heart wide open

A wide heart

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say

Say what you need to say Say what you need to say Say what you need to say
