Agenda Item 2

Notes on Discussion

Academic Residency Requirements

Peter provided background on residency requirement and reverse transfer pathways.

On a motion of JoAnn Warren, seconded by Leigh Martin, the Advisory Committee voted to reduce academic residency requirements so that transfer students will be able to complete an associate degree or certificate with a minimum of 15 college-level credits at CCRI or one-fourth (25%) of the number of required program credits. The specific degree and graduation requirements of CCRI must be met for the associate degree or certificate awarded.

VOTED: unanimous.

Agenda Item 3

Notes on Discussion

Multi-Measures Update

Academic advisory cut-off scores were reviewed as well as other placement determinants, including high school GPA (considered the best predictor of college success), Accuplacer scores, and ACT/SAT scores.

CCRI is moving to require high school transcripts as part of application process.

Ruth Sullivan presented a preliminary analysis of incoming first-year students from RI high schools, their GPAs and transcripts, and their placements. This is an on-going project with anticipated future updates to the committee.
