October 2019
Hello Church Family, The month of October will be an exciting month here at Hillcrest. First of all, our Faith and Fun Night will have a new look. It will have a new name, Family Fall Fest. It will be on a new date, Wednesday, October 30th. It will be at a new time. We will have services at 6:00 pm, then everyone will meet in the Jubilee for food, fun, and games. I encourage you to come join us for our Family Fall Fest, and bring someone with you. Secondly, I want to remind you of October 20th. It will be High Attendance Day in Sunday School. We are looking for 560 on campus and another 100 off campus with our bible studies at the jail and nursing/assistant living and retirement facilities for a total of 660 for “Kick-Off Time in Sunday School”. Third, and surely not last, I want us to make October a month where we put a major focus on the Pursuit of God. Time does not permit me to do a study on how we pursuit God, however it starts with meekness and rest. Matthew 5:5, Jesus said blessed are the meek. To pursue God, we must get rid of pride and arrogance. We must get rid of corruption and go after purity of heart. We must get rid of malice and selfishness and go after peace. We must get rid of bitterness and resentment and go after joy. In order for us to live the sermon on the mount, it starts with meek-ness. When we become meek (not weak), we find rest. Jesus said come to me and I will give you rest. James 4:6 tells us God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. My friends, when you know God’s grace you have rest. My prayer is that we will pursue Him. For His Glory, Bro. Mike

Come On In and Check Us Out!
October in the library holds a special treat for you. We are
featuring a Christian fiction novel by our fellow church member,
Amanda Mason. Titled “A Mountain Worth Moving”, it is a story of
the Mitchell family who own and live on one of the largest ranches in
Northern Montana.
As the story unfolds the reader is introduced to John Mitchell
and his two younger brothers Jamie and Ben. John, takes over man-
agement of the ranch after his brother Ben suffers a crippling injury
and his father, Red, passes away suddenly. John has an overwhelming
responsibility trying to deal with running the ranch, plus dealing with
the guilt he feels regarding his brother Ben’s accident. John is sure he
caused Ben’s tragedy but he can’t admit it to anyone and so it eats
away at him daily causing him to bury himself in work as a way to
deal with it.
Come to the library and check it out to find out how this
family saga ends!
Stop by and Check Us Out!
Hello HBC family! What an exciting time at Hillcrest and
what a blessing to be a part of this local church where God is on the
move! As I write this early in the morning, I am encouraged, excited
and in great anticipation of how the Lord is going to work in our midst
this month. I want each of you to be encouraged as well, expecting to
see great things from the Lord. Has He ever let you down?
Join us this month as we continue our study in the Gospel of
Matthew. Do you realize Jesus holds the keys to everything? He holds
the keys to life and death. He holds the keys to heaven and hell. He
even holds the keys to every door, every opportunity, every situation we
will ever encounter. Why don't we just trust Him to lead us through the
power of the Holy Spirit and open doors for us? Our key is simply the
key of faith.
My prayer this month is that we all become more faithful to
the cause of Christ and our church. My prayer is for us all to continue
following Jesus and His will by faith; not by sight or by hear say...faith!
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct
thy paths." It's all about Him (Jesus). Let's not make it about anything
else, for He is the key. God bless and see you in DT.
