Joshua Maresh President of JOMO Moving
Josh is going into his 3rd year at OGAR; he said he will be a lifetime member and that OGAR has been one of the best organizations he could have ever associated himself and the company with! His company, JOMO Moving, was started after the closure of Union Transfer and Storage. He shares “Instead of staying with my previous company and moving back to Austin, TX, my wife and I talked and decided to open our own company in Joplin because we fell in love with this town and it’s people the moment we moved here. In fact the outpouring of support and pure friendliness was so great I told myself then and there that this was my home and I was going to try and help make a positive impact on this small community any way I could. That is why JOMO Moving and myself jump at the chance to give a hand and help others whenever we can. I feel as if I was blessed with a beautiful wife who is always in my corner, a son with his head screwed on straight, a nice home, a business, friends and family that care, and I want to just pay it forward when we can. So much ugly in the world today and whether we have just completed a flawless moving job and the customer is all smiles and thanks, and/or we are donating our time, energy and resources to help others, that gratitude and knowing we are doing some good in the world is what fills my heart with joy and reconfirms to me daily that JOMO Moving is on the right track and my life is on the right track and this is what I was meant to do with my life.” Josh’s company was nominated for “Small Business of the Year” award in 2016 through the Chamber of Commerce. He was also named OGAR’s 2016 Affiliate of the Year! He stays quite busy by serving on OGAR’s Membership & Community Service committee, is an active member and participant with YPN, and with both the Joplin and Carl Junction Chambers of Commerce. He said his grandfather told him once, when he was a small child, “Work hard in silence and let success be your noise” and it has always stuck. In his free time, he has two things he either collects or likes to do...Even though he really dislikes the taste of beer, he collects beer glasses and has over a few hundred in his collection, much to his wife’s dismay. Josh and his wife also like to pick a direction and drive. They will stop along the way and look in antique stores, flea markets, or just simply see whatever is there in that particular small town or big city. No real plans, sometimes an over night visit, sometimes not...he said “It’s the closest we can come to being carefree kids again...Lol”
