Freedom Seeks Candidates for

Volunteer Director Positions

At Freedom’s next Annual Meeting on April 10, 2018, an election will be held to fill three volunteer director

positions, each for a three-year term. Directors must be members of Freedom Federal Credit Union. Additional director qualifications are: demonstrated leadership

abilities, business experience, community involvement, and proven communication and interpersonal skills.

Our Support of Kids Miracle Jeans Day

Our Freedom family came together to raise money for CU Miracle Jeans Day (9/13)—so far, we’ve raised over $800! All donations benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospi-tal, the Children Miracle Network Hospital in our area. The funds support the hospital’s greatest needs, which include life-saving research, treatments, equipment and charitable care. Thank you to all our employees and members who participated!

Scams Follow Equifax Breach

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sent out an article about a new scam exploiting the Equifax hack. See the article below. Equifax isn’t calling

Ring, ring. “This is Equifax calling to verify your account information.” Stop. Don’t tell them anything. They’re not from Equifax. It’s a scam. Equifax will not call you out of the blue.

That’s just one scam you might see after Equifax’s recent data breach. Other calls might try to trick you into giving your personal information. Here are some tips for

recognizing and preventing phone scams and imposter scams:

Don’t give personal information.

Don’t trust caller ID.

If you get a robocall, hang up.

If you’ve already received a call that you think is fake,

report it to the FTC.

If you gave your personal information to an imposter, it’s time to change any compromised passwords, account numbers or security questions. And if you’re concerned about identity theft, visit IdentityTheft.gov to learn how you can protect yourself.

The Empty Stocking Fund

Join Freedom in helping to make the holidays a little brighter for Harford County’s less fortunate. Freedom’s annual support of the Empty Stocking Fund is under-way. Bring new, unwrapped toys, food goods or a monetary donation to any of Freedom’s five branches to support The Empty Stocking Fund. Collection continues through the end of the year.

Ambulatory Services.

In support of MedStar Health’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Center (MFM) we provided the necessary funds for a new, state-of-the-art patient table/chair and larger monitor for the MFM patient room. MFM is a very specialized type of women’s care for high risk pregnancies. Patients of Medstar’s MFM Center spend longer times in the exam room than most traditional patients, and this new equipment will greatly enhanced the patients’ experience and comfort.
