2014-2015 Hidalgo County 4-H
Achievement Night Achievement Night activities offer 4-H member an opportunity to show what they have learned in their
4-H projects. Hidalgo county 4-H held Achievement Night on September 27, 2014 at Edinburg North High School Gym. The theme was “Discover the Treasure of Leadership in 4-H.” The ALPA leaders and
volunteers and county Agents spent countless hours to make this event special for the 4-H youth. Special, it was! There was a great turn out. 4-H’ers and parents gathered to recognize all the special
achievements.
A special thanks to Cindy Garza-‐Reyes, director for the 15th Congressional District, who spoke to the benefits of 4-H and how it led her to her current leadership position. Thank you so much Mrs. Reyes!
We would like to thank Joseph Palacios, County Commissioner Place 4 for installing the Hidalgo County Council Officers and attending our special night.
Join over 10,000 other 4-H members in Texas on OCTOBER
11, 2014 as they step out into their communities to make
a difference in one day! One day 4-H is one day for all the
4-H members, parents, leaders, and volunteers to step out
into their communities and county and say “thank you” by
giving back for them more than 103 years of support to 4-
H in Texas. This day of community service is whatever
each 4-H members, club, or county 4-H Program wants it
to be. It could be as simple as picking up trash and mowing
the lawn for senior citizens to elaborate as hosting a 5K
Walk/Run and raising money for a cause. Go to

ideas! Don’t forget to let the Extension office know about
your projects so you can be featured in the newsletter!
