R obert Williams our dear presenter of Senmental Favourites each
Sunday at 3.00pm has been driving his motor scooter for several
years. Robert travels to the studios by taxi and can get into the
shopping centre with his trusty scooter. Robert had no way of geng the
scooter into his home to charge the baery and would have to travel down
to his shed in the backyard to charge it up. He then had to drive across the
grass to get out to the front of his house. Robert did not men"on this to
anyone at the studio but his neighbours became aware of his problem and
decided to take ac"on. Within three days they built a ramp at the back of
Robert’s home so he could drive the scooter up to his veranda door and
charge the baery inside the house and then drive out again. The photos
show the excellent work done by Joe Grillo and Robert Wilson. What a
wonderful gesture from two caring neighbours.

The Milk of Human Kindness
2015 marks our 25th year of broadcasng
W elcome to our spring issue.
Our thoughts go back twenty five years
ago when 96.5FM began official
transmission on Dec 8th 1990. A=er years of test
transmissions we were granted our official
broadcas"ng licence.
We established our original studios at Warringal
Shopping Centre with a bunch of enthusias"c
presenters, members and listeners. Now is the "me
to celebrate our first twenty five years of opera"on.
Our concert on November 28th at the Banyule
Theatre will be a wonderful event and we are
looking forward to seeing not only our current team
but those who have been a part of our history.
Hope to see you there – bookings are now open.

Scoring in the Rain
Our Own Cen Fox Our own Cenarth Fox, publisher of the 96.5FM News, has
just published his first novel. Cen has been an
interna"onal playwright for many years.
The "tle of the new book is A Plum Job and it’s about a
young Englishwoman who wants to be an actress against
a backdrop of the Second World War.
War brings change. People tell lies. Rules are broken. So
when you’re in a foreign country and living by your wits
while facing arrest, torture and death from the French
police, Resistance, Gestapo and a double-agent, you
bloody well be&er remember your lines, act out of your
skin and never ever bump into the furniture. Mind you it
helps if your new best friend is Edith Piaf.
This sounds just a fascina"ng book. You can get your copy
of A Plum Job from bookshops, Cen himself or through
Amazon. Congratula"ons Cen – we are all proud of you.

It is hard to believe that it will be 100
years since the birth of Frank Sinatra on
the 12th of December 1915. Even
though it is almost 20 years since he
passed away Sinatra can s"ll be heard
regularly on 96.5FM. The Internaonal
Sinatra Society will mark the occasion
with a dinner on Saturday December
12th at the Box Hill RSL. Enquiries

We need to get those photos from the
early days of 96.5FM for our video
presenta"on at our concert. Place your
photos in a clearly marked envelope and
get them to Tim Rivers ASAP. The
photos and videos will be returned to
you.
We have received wonderful publicity
through The Melbourne Observer and
The Heidelberg Leader over the years
and we thank them for their support.
I was listening to another community
radio sta"on and noted that the
presenter never men"oned their name
or the sta"on.
Sadly one of our former presenters John
Darbyshire passed away recently. John’s
Mix of Music on a Tuesday at lunch"me
was a popular programme for many
years on 96.5FM. Our sympathy is
extended to the Darbyshire family.
Don’t forget to renew your membership
this year – we need you.

Listener feedback on football broadcasts
[I have much enjoyed the football
review on Saturday mornings during 2015.
I par"cularly wish to congratulate Inner
FM on your broadcast of the Woodrow
medal earlier this week. It was excellent.
I live in the Bayside area and sadly struggle
to tune into Inner FM on radio, thus all my
listening must be done online and I have
tuned in from many loca"ons overseas,
such as Amman Jordan, Lookout Mountain
Tennessee, Pitzo in Calabria Italy,
Samos in the eastern Aegean Sea, and ST
Petersburg Russia.
Your able commentary team have the
ability to influence VAFA policy, i.e. playing
at Ikon Park v the history of Elsternwick,
decrepit as the facili"es are. Thanks for all
the enjoyment. It was a great game
Yesterday.
Regards,
Michael Kelly
