"It Shall Come to Pass"

The Lord proclaimed "it shall come to pass" and it has and

will as prophecy reveals itself. Deuteronomy 28 affects

our everyday walk in life, from the food and information we

consume to the words we speak. It would be wise to read

about the curses along with the national and local

news. Prophecy includes not only international or national

events; prophecy affects the everyday person, especially the

people referred to as Israel in the bible.

"The Origins of Holy Water" By Sis. BJ Israel

According to Wikipedia, Holy water is water

that has been blessed by a member of a clergy

or religious figure. Several religions use the idea of holy

water for spiritual cleansing and some like the Anglican and

Catholic Church use holy water for protection against evil or

evil spirits. At many Catholic churches, you will find a font

or stoup (small vessel) at the entrance containing so-called

holy water for parishioners to use to cleanse themselves

symbolically. In the Middle Ages holy water was protected

with locks on the fonts to prevent its theft. So the question

is, is this practice or even the idea of holy water biblical?

Question: "What does the Bible say about holy water?"

Answer: The Bible is silent about holy water the way it is

used today. For baptism, Matthew 3:11 speaks of "baptizing

with water for repentance," with nothing in the context

suggesting that the water itself is holy. Baptism is a

symbolic ritual, identifying oneself with Christ's death,

burial, and resurrection. A closer parallel to the modern use

of holy water would be God's laws in the Old Testament,

which required cleaning ritually unclean things with water...

15, 16, and 17:15). See also a specific reference to ritually

unclean people in Numbers 19:17.

Holy water is now permanently retained at the entrance of

Catholic churches, blessed at the first of each lunar month,

and sprinkled over patrons as they enter. This practice was

created to supplant the pagan celebration of the new moon,

according to Canon 65 of the Council of Constantinople

(691). According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the earliest

modern uses of holy water appear in the ninth century. With

that, coupled with the New Testament's silence regarding

the practice and use of holy water, it can be concluded that

the tradition of holy water was created for the sole purpose

of putting a pagan ceremony out of commission, using a

scant few biblical references to water for purification.

Any practice that makes us feel closer to God and furthers

our walk with Him should be encouraged (cf. Romans 14,

esp. v23) but also consider 1 Corinthians 6:12 – If a practice

is beneficial to a relationship with God, keep it; otherwise,

throw it away. This is all the more true when said practice

has little biblical foundation. The Bible nowhere instructs

Christians to use "holy water" in any way, shape, or form.

The Catholic use of holy water is not biblical.

Indeed, it is not. The most precious water is the Word of

God (living water), which if we thirst for it, we will receive

it and grow into productive and disciplined servants of God.

"Focus on taking inventory

of one's self today, let it

begin with me."

With the whole world spinning out of control as it is today,

we had better hold on as never before to the Almighty‟s

Word and stay focused. If not, we might get caught up in the

spin, and become unable to grasp on to anything--meaning

anything can happen to anyone at any given time. Many of

us today are just idle, especially the younger generation,

who are not taught about Jesus. Jesus is not on the agenda,

and the word of Almighty God is of none effect in so many

lives throughout the world. Today, we are busy with

everything, yet God Almighty says he is a jealous God.

[Exodus 20:5 and Deut. 6:13-14-15] Children are not taught

at all about the Creator at home and it is forbidden to teach

about Him in school. So what do we have for tomorrow's

generation? Evil times and evil forces in the atmosphere

with no protection and no armor (Word of God).

We have to be very careful in our conversations and about

everything we say as servants of God. Our words can be

misconstrued and ungodly conversation can be used against

us. So let us think twice and speak once to keep peace, love,

and to bridge the gap where there is confusion and discord.

As we know, people often hold grudges from simple

misunderstandings and some (even family members) don‟t

speak for years because of hurt feelings and/or feelings of

belittlement. If we will just humble ourselves and learn to

say “I‟m sorry,” many relationships may be saved. Consider

taking the "high road" "be the bigger person" – apologize;

nothing will be lost but, much will be gained. Let us all

practice saying … “I apologize!.” Acknowledge that we

may have hurt someone‟s feelings because in some cases,

all people want is to be vindicated. If we stay focused on the

word of Almighty God we can sometimes feel if something

is wrong or if we have hurt others.

Let us check ourselves often to see if we treat each other

like we would want to be treated. As Jesus said, what we do

for the least of these is the same we do for him [Matthew

25:35-45].

"A Review of Sleepy Hollow"

I watched this program when it first aired and was surprised

by all of the Biblical references used in it. What I found

disheartening is that prophecy is being twisted to fit their

plot. The town has a population of 144,000 and the two

lead characters are supposedly the 'two witnesses' that are

not there to preach the gospel but to stop the four horsemen

of the apocalypse from carrying out their duties. They

believe they can stop them by keeping the headless

horseman from getting his head back. I would suggest that

if you allow your children to watch this program to please

inform them of what Biblical prophecy really says. Also,

there are warnings at the beginning of each episode for

graphic violence.
