Political News

In a meeting yesterday the leader of the incumbent coalition government – Palang

Pracharat Party (PPRP) came out to say that it was preparing for the possible elections

and would continue to support 2014 coup leader – Prayut Chan-o-cha as the possible

candidate for the party for Prime Minister post in the next elections.

The PPRP meeting was headed by Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan who is the head of

the party, and he had called the heads of all nine districts of the party to discuss

local elections and the planning of major election strategies.

Attending the meeting were the likes of Gen. Wit Thephasadin Na Ayudhya,

Chairman of the Strategy Committee of the PPRP, drug dealing convict and

PPRP’s secretary general - Capt. Thammanat Phromphao, who is an MP from

Phayao, former deputy Education Minister and incumbent Treasurer of PPRP -

Narumon Pinyosinwat, attended the meeting.

The meeting that lasted more than 2-hours saw General Prawit announce that

PPRP would get 150-200 seats in the parliament in the next elections from

the 122 MPs they got in the March 2019 elections.

Gen. Wit said that the party's election strategy, is almost finished.

Page 2: October 1, 2021 Thai Enquirer Summary

Confirmed to support Gen. Prayut as prime minister and Gen.

Prawit as the leader of the party.

General Prawit also stated. I'm not interested in the case of Col. Suchart

Chantarachotikul, former chairman of the Southern Strategic for the PPRP, who

has said that he was looking to split from the PPRP to form a new party to

nominate 2014 coup leader Prayut as its Prime Minister candidate.

The ultra-high end watch loving Deputy Prime Minister, whose single

watch is worth more than his entire life’s salary, then asked Rong

Boonsuaykwan, the MP from Nakhon Si Thammarat, and is the president

of southern MPs, about the moves by the MPs in the region.

Rong confirmed that all southern MPs are with the PPRP and none

of the MPs have decided to move according to the news released

by Col. Suchart.

Meanwhile, Natthee Thinsaku, a member of the Phuket’s PPRP, gave an interview that

over the next weekend, 7-8 southern MPs will meet to discuss and analyse the direction

in this matter before announcing where their stance is.

Meanwhile 2014 coup leader and incumbent Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had to

make changes to his plans to visit the various areas in Nonthaburi province after

protestors gathered and were overwhelmed by those who had come to support him.

The protestors were shouting ‘I hear Tuu’ a play on the word ‘Aye Hea Tuu’ (Hea

- in Thai means monitor lizard, a reptile considered to be among the lowest of the

creatures, as it lives off rotten flesh of fishes etc. Tuu is Prayut’s nickname).
