OCT 2018 1 JIGYASA-18, TECHNO CULTURAL FEST ORGANIZED AT SHAIKH COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY. In a bid to promote the hidden talent of the students and celebrate the zeal of the youth Shaikh College of Engineering and Technology organized Two Day Inter College Fest- JIGYASA-18. The event was a synergy of youth creativity and talent quotient. It was a hustle bustle affair with gamut of events rolled to test talent and mental ability, logical thinking, spontaneity and knowledge. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr.Veeresh Vastrad, Chief Engineer QUEST Global, Belagavi. Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the function. The other dignitary present at the inaugural function was Dr. M.J.Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions. Dr. H.G.Shekharappa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology. The two day technical fest gave students an opportunity to witness a wide range of technical events ranging from conventional paper presentations and quizzes to fun filled activities. The fest included a total of 30 events which were planned and organized professionally. Fest coordinators jointly divided the units to be included keeping in view the students interest. It provided a platform to the students to showcase their engineering talents along with fun activities. Events like Bridge Modeling, C- The Cadmania, photography, Blind coding, Nukkad Natak, Paper Presentation etc saw maximum number of participants and created excitment among the students. Addressing the gathering Mr.Veeresh Vastrad said that it is a great way of making one’s mind work in a creative way because towards the end winning or losing is not the case, it’s all about being sportive and facing the competition head on. He further said that the techno cultural fest inculcate ingenuity and innovative abilities among the students and encourage them to explore the world beyond textbooks and academic activities. He highlighted the importance of the prerequisites of a good engineer and the industrial expectations from the engineering graduates. Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions in his presidential remarks said that Jigyasa-18 is designed in such a way that it has many events to test the students and give them a platform to showcase their talent, skills and creativity. At Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology, we believe in stimulating bright young minds to think out of the box and innovate by providing a wholesome learning experience, he added. Dr. H. G. Shekharappa, Director, encouraged the students with his warm and motivating words. He also expressed that it is his dream to see events like this take place more often, at the campus. Students from various colleges participated and enjoyed a two day festival at the college premises. A total of 30 events took place over the two day extravaganza involving over 2000 students from various colleges. GOLDEN JUBILEE ALUMNI MEET AT A.M.SHAIKH HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE

On the eve of Golden Jubilee year A. M. Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College organized a grand Alumni Meet at Shaikh Campus, Nehru Nagar, Belgavi. To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the alumni meet was graced by many Alumni who came from different parts of the country. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Arun Bhasme, Vice President, CCH, New Delhi. The guests of honor for the event were Dr. A.L.Patil, Executive Member, CCH, New Delhi, Dr. Sampat Rao, Member CCH, New Delhi, Dr. Munir Ahmed, Director, College Development Department, RGUHS and Dr. Sabina, Secretary, Shaikh Group of Institutions. Shri. A. R. A. Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the event. The other dignitaries present during the event were Dr. M.J.Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions, Dr. Girish Moogi, Principal, A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College and Dr. V.V. Kulkarni.

The event began with welcome song by Ms. Isha of A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College followed by lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Girish Moogi, Principal, A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Y. Nadaf, Hospital Administrator introduced the dignitaries for the function. Addressing the gathering he paid glowing tribute to visionary Dr. A.M.Shaikh for giving an opportunity to complete his homoeopathic education and also appointing him as a faculty member. Recalling his association with Dr. A. M. Shaikh he said that he learnt a great deal of Homoeopathy and art of administration under the guidance of late Dr. A. M. Shaikh.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Arun Bhasme, Vice President,

Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi spoke about the contributions of Late Dr. A.M.Shaikh to the society. He said that alumni meet is one of the best programmes to develop the institution and it is heartening to note that the alumni has come together to revitalize the association.

Dr. A. L. Patil, Executive Member, Central Council of Homoeopathy addressing the gathering expressed his gratitude to the institution A. M. Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College for all the success he has achieved in his life. He paid rich tribute to late Dr. A. M. Shaikh for establishing the institution and giving an opportunity to students of Karnataka to become doctors and serve the society. Further he said that he did not have the means to carry his higher

education and because of the financial assistance he received from Dr. A. M. Shaikh he could become a homoeopath and a polished human being. He further expressed his gratitude to the institution for giving him the opportunity to serve in this institution as faculty the very next day of completion of his graduation.

Dr. Munir Ahmed, Director, College Development Department, RGUHS addressing the gathering expressed his gratitude and congratulated the institution for providing quality education and serving the society since the last 50 years.

Th event was then followed by the felicitation ceremony. The First batch students of A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College were felicitated by the chief guest and other dignitaries. The former principals of the college were also felicitated in this occassion.

SHAIKH COLLEGE OF EDUCATION INAUGURATED INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY LAB (ICT)

Shaikh College of Education inaugurated ICT lab (Information & Communication Technology lab (ICT) in the college. The chief guest for the function was Dr. M.C. Yerriswamy, Associate Professor, Rani Chennamma University, Belgavi. Shri A. R. A Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the function.

Addressing the gathering Dr. M.C. Yerriswamy said that ICT have been at the heart of economic changes for more than a decade and plays an important role, notably by contributing to rapid technological process and productivity growth. Speaking about the importance of technology he said that there are several key proportions to information & Communication technology (ICT) education. The rising ubiquity of ICT has meant that we must monitor its role in education.Shri A. R. A. Shaikh in his presidential remarks said that ICT can improve the quality of human life because it can be used as a learning and education media. He further said that ICT competencies are increasingly important for everybody regardless of role. The labs are used to give learner access to information promote interaction, communication and enhance digital literary skills, he added.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Indira Sutar, Principal, Shaikh College of Education. The event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Akshata B K.

SCIENCE EXHIBITION ORGANIZED AT SHAIKH CENTRAL SCHOOL

A one day science exhibition with theme “Science & Technology for challenges in life” was organized at Shaikh central School in the school premises recently. The event

saw participants exhibits some innovative working models and investigation based projects. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Simon Lobo, Principal, Shaikh Central School. The exhibits by the students were indeed an eye opener on various topics related to green Energy, Agriculture, Environment and Technology etc. The objective of the event was to promote scientific attitude among young students.

The students were benefited through sharing and exchanging of innovative ideas. The application of these models in our daily life was presented and it filled all the students with zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. Simon Lobo, Principal, Shaikh central School appreciated the efforts of teachers and students for organizing such a knowledgeable and informative exhibition. He further said that organizing such events will not only help in stimulating creativity and inventiveness among the students but also will generate their interest for these subjects.

SHAIKH COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY ORGANIZED NATIONAL LEVEL TALENT HUNT

Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology organized one day National Level Talent hunt at the college premises. The college believes in the overall development of students and to achieve excellence in all the fields. The one day technical fest gave students an opportunity to witness technical events such as paper presentation and Project Exhibition. The paper presentation event was organized in order to give due recognition to students who have put down their ideas in writing. Project Exhibition event saw maximum number of participation and created excited among the students.

The one day talent hunt began with inaugural function. The chief guest for the event was Dr. V. A Raikar, Guest of Honor Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions. Dr. H.G. Shekarappa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology presided over the function. The other dignitaries present during the event were Dr. Mohan Vanrotti, Principal, Shaikh college of Engineering & Technology, Dr. M.J.Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions, Dr. K Ravi, Professor, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology. Dr. Mohan Vanrotti, Principal, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology introduced the dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering chief guest Dr. V A Raikar said that it is a great way of making once mind work in a creative way. Participation in the event like talent hunt is a great way of once mind work in a creative way. He emphasized that participation is more important than winning & losing. He called upon students to participate in the development of the nation through creativity and innovation. He said engineers are molded by the institution

and its faculty from raw materials into admirable achievers. Dr. Raikar said that it is very important to conduct these kind of events which bring out the hidden talent of the young engineers. Indian education system has paid a pivotal role in making Indian engineers stand out at a international stage. The contribution of Indian engineers in the IT industry is note worthy.

Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh group of Institutions addressing the gathering advised the students to believe in themselves and work hard to be successful in life. He was immensely proud of the efforts put into the event and its overall success of the show. Sharing his views he said “ it was a great platform to showcase engineering concepts”. He stressed on Development of skills beyond academic curriculum and undertaking rural development projects. Dr. H. G. Shekarappa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology in his presidential remarks spoke about the needs to modernize and update knowledge keeping in views the requirement of todays society. He explained the importance of employability skills and the soft skills for technocrats. He drew everybody’s attention to the fact that education today has become learning centric both for students and teachers.

More than 200 students from different colleges participat-ed in the event. The event was Coordinated by the staff and students of Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology.

YOGA DAY CELEBRATED AT SHAIKH GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS

Shaikh Group of Institutions observed International Yoga Day on June 21st 2018 at Shaikh Campus, Nehru Nagar, Belgavi. Shri Muralidhar Prabhu, Yoga Guru and Ms. Navya Prabhu graced the occasion. The other dignitaries present during the event were Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh group of Institutions, Dr. M.J. Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions. The event was witnessed by

all the Faculty, Staff and students of Shaikh Group of Institutions.

Shri Muralidhar Prabhu highlighted the importance of Yoga in keeping physically and mentally alert. He demonstrated some different types of pranayama. He explained many benefits of early rising and practicing yoga. He pointed out the contribution of yoga in maintaining fitness and good health and how it helps students to memorize something and understand a concept and its context. He further emphasized the need of practicing yoga and adopting a natural lifestyle which is essential to get rid of increasing obesity and other diseases among the students.

Shri Mralidhar Prabhu and Ms. Navya Prabhu demonstrat-ed various aasan’s like suryanamaskar, Tadasana,

Vriksasa, Ardha Chakrasana, Padmasana etc. Yoga Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was organized to commemorate the occasion.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS AT SHAIKH PU COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, COMMERCE & ARTS

Shaikh PU College celebrated Earth Day at the college premises. The objective of the event was to celebrate the Earth’s beauty and taking a pledge to protect the greenery and the natural resource that our planet has generously bestowed upon us. To celebrate the beauty of the planet “EARTH”- students organized tree plantation week at the campus.

Mr. Ramesh Godse, Principal, Shaikh PU College addressed

the gathering and engaged an interactive session on cleanliness drive. Speaking to the students he said that with such a precious gift of natural resources, we have enormous responsibility to use the natural resource judiciously, conserve them and to hand over them to our future generation. He further said that Earth Day is more of a call for action than a celebration. He also said that “Earth Day” challenges us to take seriously our job as caretakers of our natural environment. We must recognize our collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature and earth to achieve balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generation, he added. All the students, faculty and staff were present to celebrate the beauty of nature.

The event was organized at Shaikh Campus, Nehru Nagar, Belgaum. The event concluded with vote of thanks and the event was coordinated by Recreation & cultural Nominee Ms. Shradha.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATED AT SHAIKH GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS

Shaikh Group of Institutions celebrated World Environment Day organized at Shaikh Campus. The main objective of celebrating Environment Day was to draw people's attention towards the importance of planting trees. The celebrations began with inauguration of Green House at Shaikh Campus by Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group

of Institutions and Dr. Sabina, Secretary, Shaikh Group of Institutions.

Presiding over the function Er. Abu Shaikh, said that earth and its eco systems provide its inhabitants with life and sustenance. We must recognize our collective responsibili-ty to promote harmony with nature to achieve balance

between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generation. He also said that “Environment Day” challenges us to take seriously our job as caretakers of our natural environment. It inspires us to think of more than just our own sustenance but also about generations to come.

Addressing the students he spoke about threats towards the environment and its effects on the whole ecosystem. He advised the students to actively participate in green revolution. He said this day is a reminder of our service towards our mother land which sustains all form of life. He also said that the day will help us focus our thoughts and our energies to make collective efforts towards protecting the environment. Students also planted trees at Shaikh campus.

All the students, faculty and staff were present to celebrate the beauty of nature and to spread awareness about sustaining the greenery in today's world.

WORKSHOP ON DIGITAL MARKETING AT BELGAUM INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Belgaum Institute of Management studies organized one day workshop on Digital marketing at the college premises recently. The guest speaker on this occasion was Mr. Mujahid and Mr. Irshad. The objective of the workshop was

to provide students a platform to gain hands on experience and exposure to every aspect of digital marketing. The workshop highlighted the important aspects such as digital marketing fundamentals, website creation, social e mail marketing and analytics. Addressing the students Mr. Mujahid explained the evolution of digital marketing and its incredible growth in providing job opportunities in India. He said that to make your business stand out from the crowd you need a real strategy that puts potential customers first and use all the available tools to acquire them. The intensive program was dynamically structured to prepare students comprehensively for any digital marketing role.

The workshop gave practical experience to the students which involved few activities and games.

INAUGURATION OF STUDENT COUNCIL AT SHAIKH COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Shaikh College of Education inaugurated student council for the academic year 2017-18. The chief guest for the event was Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, SGI. Dr. M.J.Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the function. The programme was solemnly inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries followed by prayer song. Mrs.Indira Sutar, Principal, Shaikh College of Education welcomed the gathering.

Mr. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institution, began the inaugural address by wishing the students to have a very useful and a wonderful year of the student council. He apprised the students with the history of Shaikh Group of Institution from the time of its inception. Addressing the gathering he said that Shaikh College of Education has been creating ripples in education by

delivering excellent university results. He also highlighted the quality of education provided at Shaikh College of Education. He said that the teachers are the architects of the nation and hence must take up the responsibility of restoring the value systems. He also said that learning is a continuous process, gathering information is equally important. Hence the students should make up their mind to utilize the infrastructure provided by the institution in general and library in particular and thus in turn it will guide them in future.

  Dr. M.J.Attar in his presidential remarks welcomed the students to the shaikhian family. He further said that each teacher trainee must understand what makes them a better teacher. He stressed on developing leadership skills and communication skills. He advised the trainees to be facilitators for the students so that they get concept based learning. He highlighted on the importance of modern technology in teaching learning. Addressing the teacher trainees he emphasized on activity based learning and use of information technology for effective learning teaching process.

The event was then followed by the oath ceremony by all the student union secretaries. The entire event was coordinated by Ms. Akshata B K and Ms. Shahin Pinjar.

STUDENT COUNCIL INAUGURATION AT SHAIKH CENTRAL SCHOOL

Shaikh Central School inaugurated student council at the school premises recently. The chief guest for the event was LN. Shrikant Shanbhag, Belagavi. Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the function. The other dignitaries present during the event were Dr. M. J. Attar. Chief Coordination, Shaikh Group of Institutions, Mr. Simon Lobo, Principal, Shaikh Central School, Mrs. Parveen Attar & Mrs. Josephine Gunti, Vice Principals, Shaikh Central School.

The event began with an invocation song by the school students followed by lamp lighting ceremony. Ln. Shrikant Shanbhag, chief guest began his speech by wishing the

students to have a very useful and wonderful year o student council. He further said that good education is helpful in forming good citizen of nation. A good student is one who inculcates honesty, integrity and dedication.

He urged the students to develop spark, curiosity, positive mindset and a spirit of teamwork which would channelize their energies resulting in determined action for the betterment of the institution and society. Speaking about education he spoke about the importance of gaining knowledge and quality of education. He further spoke about leadership quality among

the students. He said that a leader is a real leader who is developing other leader around themselves.

Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions in his presidential remarks wished the students to have a very useful and a wonderful year of the student council. He stressed on developing leadership skills and communica-tion skills. He highlighted on the importance of modern technology in teaching. The event was then followed by oath taking ceremony by the cabinet ministers.

Shaikh Group of Institutions celebrated Women’s Day at Shaikh Campus, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi. The celebration marked the achievements of Women and Women Empowerment. The program at Shaikh group organized by the students featured a wide variety of events including the cultural program, short games and poetry reading etc.

Addressing the gathering at A.M. Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College Mrs. Indira Sutar, Principal, Shaikh College of Education said that Women should be appreciated, supported and encouraged in every sphere of life. She further said that it was the time to uphold Women’s achievements, recognize challenges and focus greater

attention on Women’s rights and gender equality. Girls should know their right to defend themselves and fight against crimes against Women, she added. Further she said that Women must develop confidence and self-discipline in order to get success in their professional and personal life.

She further said that over the years the essence of Women’s day celebration has evolved and has taken up an all together novel form. She further went on to say that a Women in herself is a full circle and complete within herself, she has inside her the potency to fight for whatever is right. Dr. Mohan Vanrotti, Principal, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology in his presidential remarks highlighted the important issues related to Women and steps being taken to improve their status and make them aware of their rights. Speaking on gender equality he further said that all though our society has made much progress, we can still improve and move forward especially in rural areas.

The event was attended by all the faculty and staff of Shaikh Group of Institutions. The event was coordinated by all the unit Principals of Shaikh Group of Institutions.

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the Alumni Meet was inaugurated at Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology. The chief guest for the event was Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions. The other dignitaries present during the event were Dr. H.G.Shekara-ppa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology, Dr. M.J.Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions, Dr. Mohan Vanrotti, Principal, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology.

The meet started with traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest. The occasion was graced by more than 200 alumni ranging across various batches from various parts of the country. Dr. Mohan Vanrotti, Principal, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology extended a warm welcome to the alumni and all the dignitaries. Er. Abu Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group addressing the gathering underlines and praised the achievements of Alumni in all walks of life. He praised their contribution towards the growth of their Alma Mater and emphasized

the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology and the current students. Dr. H.G.Shekharappa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology in his speech updated the alumni about new initiatives taken up by the institute. He appreciated alumni for showing interest in contributing for betterment of the institution. He further congratulated and blessed the alumni for their achievements and wished them luck for the entire future endeavor.

The event was then followed by interaction session between the current students and alumni. The event was stimulating, enjoyable and profitable as all members shared their views, ideas and good number of new ideas, information and insights came up. The event was anchored by Prof. Greeshma Nadakarni and coordinated by Prof. Chetana Patil.

GRADUATION DAY AT A. M. SHAIKH HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE, HOSPITAL, PG & RESEARCH CENTER

A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College, PG & Research Center organized successfully the Graduation Ceremony for the under graduates and post graduates at its college premises. The chief guest for the event was Dr. V.A.Kotiwale, Vice Principal, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi. Guest of Honor was Dr. H.G. Shekharap-pa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering & Technology. Shri A.R.A Shaikh, Chairman, Shaikh Group of Institutions presided over the function.

The other dignitaries present during the event were Dr. M.J. Attar, Chief Coordinator, Shaikh Group of Institutions and Dr. G.M.Moogi, Principal, A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College.

The ceremony began with march past which was led by the Chairman, Chief Guest and faculty members. Dr. G.M. Moogi, Principal, A.M.Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College welcomed the guests. He wished the graduating batch the very best and advised them to be ready to face the challenges of the real world and create an impact on the society. Dr. Chanaveer and Dr. Mercy were awarded the best outgoing graduates and Dr. Prashant was awarded best outgoing post graduate.

The chief guest Dr. V.A.Kotiwale advised the graduationg medicos to devote their life’s for the service of humanity. They must always respect their teachers and parents who transformed their life’s and made them professional. He advised students to be empathic and ethical in their profession. He advised students to practice what they learn.

Addressing the gathering Dr. H.G. Shekharappa said that graduation is a time of celebration triumph and marks the end of one phase of learning and prepares them to face real life challenge. He also stated that it is very proud moment for the graduates, parents and teachers who have all played their part in the end result. Shri.

A.R.A Shaikh addressing the gathering congratulated the graduating students. He further said to the students that as you enter a new stage in your life. Your future is intertwined with the future of this country. He further advised the students o have the wisdom to apply their knowledge for the benefit of the country.

The Chief Guest on the occasion awarded the certificates to the graduating students along with Shri Abu A Shaikh, Chairman, SGI and Dr. H.G. Shekharappa, Director, Shaikh College of Engineering Technology. The passing out students spoke about their experience in the campus. The event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Kulsum. Shaikh college of Engineering and Technology announces inauguration of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Center for excellence.

The Center for excellence is aimed at bringing experts and students from various specializations together in sustainable engineering domain to gain knowledge, share information and build consensus on the actions which are most needed to move forward.

Due to global warming & its adverse effect on climate and human being a major challenge . There is a need for sustainable engineering innovations and practices which will be helpful in reducing global warming. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Center for excellence at Shaikh College of Engineering and Technology takes an initiative to go for sustainable Engineering Research.

The idea of setting up excellence center was launched at Shaikh College of Engineering and Technology by Dr.Vishweshwar Kallimani, Dean R & D, HOD E &C. It acts as an umbrella to bring together ideas and innovations of different clusters namely Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

Mr.Sanjeev Kshirasagar, Technical director NIC, Belagavi and Dr. Dinesh.Hiremath, Smart city panel member, Belagavi were chief guests at the inaugural function. Er. Abu Shiakh, Managing Trustee , Shaikh Group of Institutions ,Dr. H. G. Shekarappa, Director, Dr. M. S. Sohani, Principal Shaikh College of Engineering and Technology grace the function.
