Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New Yorkcongratulates Oceanside resident Ariel Yardeni ’16 (Hunter College) forwinning the prestigious Yenchning Scholarship. The Yenching Academyof Peking University builds bridges between China and the worldthrough an interdisciplinary Master’s program in China Studies foroutstanding graduates from all over the globe. Ariel is majoring inChinese Studies with a certificate in Public Policy and a minor inBiology.
“I have been interested in studying all things China since I beganstudying Mandarin in the 10th grade,” said Ariel. “Spending anextended time in China will allow me to delve deeper and explore howmy involvement with Chinese studies can help shape my global career.It will also be an incredibly humbling experience to study among suchhigh-achieving peers, all of whom have done really cool and unique
things during their previous studies.”
Ariel, who graduated from Oceanside H.S., is also doing research on LGBT inclusive health education and hopes toexplore health education policy in China, as well. She has been to Asia four times, and twice before to China.
