Brown Box Gives Audience a Vote in The Broadway Jukebox
Brown Box Theatre Project returns to Delmarva May 22-27th with The Broadway Jukebox: A Musical Theatre Cabaret Event. Following a sold-out run of The Hotel Nepenthe in March, Brown Box continues to bring a wide range of theatrical experiences to audiences all across the East Coast with this glittering showcase of Broadway’s finest compositions.
With almost 30 Broadway songs to choose from, each performance of The Broadway Jukebox is unique, changing based on the selections made by that evening’s audience. Upon arrival, each audience member votes for their top three choices from a series of different musical theatre categories, including “The Golden Age,” “Contemporary Musicals,” “Disney on Broadway,” and more. Brown Box will curate each night’s show on the spot in this interactive, family-friendly evening, where we perform what the audience considers to be the best of Broadway. The Broadway Jukebox runs May 22-27th in various locations across the Delmarva Peninsula. Please plan to arrive no less than 15 minutes before showtime for your vote to be counted. Ocean City Bicycle Lights Project Expands Due to Success
Ocean City, Maryland – (April 20, 2018): The Town of Ocean City is growing the bicycle light project after the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) experienced overwhelmingly positive feedback. In March 2018, the OCPD began distributing bicycle lights to Ocean City residents, free of charge, in an effort to improve bicycle safety. The service was so successful that the town is expanding the effort.
Now, Ocean City residents and visitors can bring their bicycles to any of the five fire stations to have the free lights installed. According to Ocean City Councilmember Tony DeLuca, this service is just one effort to make Ocean City a more bicycle friendly community and a safer community overall.
“We are excited to have received a generous grant from the Community Foundation of the East-ern Shore,” commented Councilmember DeLuca. “The generosity of our community has result-ed in the purchase of nearly 500 free bicycle lights for residents, visitors and our J-1 students. We strongly believe that having properly equipped bicycles will reduce the number of bicycle collisions that occur in Ocean City, making it safer for drivers and bicyclists.”
Along with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, funding for the bike lights has come from the Ocean City Hotel Motel Restaurant Association and Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Association. “It’s important to keep everyone on our roadways safe,” DeLuca continued. “Providing lights for free is not only a great service but it’s a service that is making our roadways safer in Ocean City.”
To further improve this safety initiative, bicycle lights will be available at the City Hall gazebo on Wednesdays from May 16 through June 27, from approximately 10 a.m. until noon. To receive a free bicycle light, you must bring your bicycle to one of the designated locations (the Public Safety Building and the Ocean City Fire Department stations).
