In a recent pilot study where dental patients were prescribed a single arch guard then underwent a two night study, the Apnea and Hypopnea Index (AHI) worsened significantly in 50% of these dental patients and in some cases the AHI doubled. Using a monitor to measure and know the airway condition ensures the patient’s overall condition is not worsened by the presence of a single arch guard.
