1st Dimension: Digital infrastructures and

equipment

Interactive Teaching Systems (interactive tables, data-projectors) in 2nd grade of High school in 1.250 schools (9 M€).

Portable PC laboratory (15 PCs, 1 Wifi, 30 USB memory sticks, mobile cabinet) for all “big” elementary schools and all high schools in Greece (9 M€).

1st Dimension: Digital infrastructures and

equipment Direct broadband connection via Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) optical fibers in schools of 30 Municipalities. Additional broadband connection of schools in 27 more Municipalities via extension of the network of EDET (8.5 M€).

Wiring and equipment of networks in schools from Greek School Network and additional services (upgrade of speed at 24Mbs, digital voice services, tele-education, video streaming and web TV) (18 M€).

2nd Dimension: Digital educational content

Digital platform: http://digitalschool.minedu.gov.gr open source software, with active participation of users by incorporating Web 2.0 tools (in which they will be enhanced):

All books in digital form (html, epub, mobi, etc) enriched with additional interactive material (applets, animations, videos, links)

Scenarios for each unit where ICT in teaching are being introduced

Additional digital material such as photos, video, digital educational games in correspondence with each unit of Studies Programme from digital files (ERT, GAK, Libraries, Museums, etc) and public or private institutions (it has already begun).

2nd Dimension: Digital educational content

Model teachings in video for all courses of examinations of 3rd grade of Lyceum (digital tuition centre) (http://study4exams.gr)

Local Digital Content management of each class (exchange of work between students-teachers, statements, tests, grades, absences, etc) .

3rd Dimension: Training of teachers in the ICT

In service training of 103.000 teachers (57.2% total) in the educational utilization of ICT tools in teaching.

Already included in the Education and Lifelong Learning Operational Programme (47.5 M€) and over 3.500 teachers and multipliers have already being educated on ICT in Classroom.

4th Dimension: Use of ICT in Special Needs

Education In service Training of teachers of Special Needs

Education. Improve the digital infrastructures of Special Needs

Education schools. The budget for this Dimension is 35M€ in total and the

relevant projects are in a full implementation phase.

5th Dimension: Digital administration of education Replacement of the 5 current basic data systems of the

educational system with a unified interoperable system.

Interoperability based on the optimization of the relevant administrative processes.

Already, all schools in Greece have an electronic file that contain all primary data (students, personnel, equipment, etc).

The budget is 3.8 M€ and the project is expected to be completed in about 2.5 years.

6th Dimension: Horizontal supporting and innovative

interventions Development of a support system for schools in central

(helpdesk) and regional level.

Promotion of excellence and innovation in the use of ICT from the educational community (rewards, competitions, etc).

All the relevant projects are in a full implementation phase.

6th Dimension: Horizontal supporting and innovative

interventions

Certification of knowledge in ICT for all students in 3rd grade of High school (already has begun the preparatory work).

Intervention safer internet aiming to inform the parents, students, and teachers on the safe use of internet (http://internet-safety.sch.gr).
