Obtaining a User ID & PasswordDPS Quick Guide

Where to start In order to create an account or sign into an existing account, go
to: www.move.mil Acronyms
Defense Personal Property System (DPS): where your application is created
Electronic Transportation Acquisition (ETA): interface for DPS that validates your identity

Getting Started
This is the move.mil homepage. From here you can log in to your DPS account, find resources and
other information.
RETURNING USERS: Click “Sign in to DPS”
NEW USERS: Click “create a new account”

Confirmation
You will next be asked to confirm your email.
Click ‘OK’
After confirming your email, you will see a message that contains your new User ID (note: we have removed the User ID number on this screenshot to maintain PII); the message shows you have been approved to access DPS and informs you that an email was sent to the address of registration. If you do not receive an email notifying you that your account has been activated, contact the DPS System Response Center (SRC). They are available 24/7 to assist you with your password issues. Their toll-free phone number is 1-800-462-2176 option 5.

Activation Email
You will receive an email from the DPS Administrator that contains your new User ID and a link to obtain your access key. Click the link or copy and paste into your browser.
If you have difficulty accessing the link, follow the alternative steps provided in your email.
TIP: Your User ID is unique to you and not the same as your original approval notification; please make note of your new User ID.

Password
Click ‘Accept’ button to acknowledge DOD Security Banner.
Your User ID is already populated.
Enter the code shown (not case sensitive) and click Next.

Provide the answers to the two randomly selected security questions.
Click Next.
TIP: If you do not remember the answers to the questions, you may click the ‘Change Questions’ button.
You will be prompted to create and set a New Password. Passwords must be at least 15 characters, contain two uppercase letters, two lowercase letters, two numbers and two special characters.
SAVE YOUR PASSWORD! Write it down and keep in a safe place .

If the password you created meets all the criteria described in the list, each item will have a green checkmark next to it.
Click Set Password.

You will receive confirmation that your password has been changed
Click Return to Login

Logging In
Did you TURN OFF yourpopup blockers?
Before logging in, you must turn off your popup blockers. Directions for turning off popup blockers for all compatible browsers appear on the next screens. If you HAVE turned off your popup blockers, please skip to slide 14.

Open Internet Explorer Go to ‘Tools’ Hover your mouse over the
words Pop up Blocker Click “Turn OFF Pop-up

Select "Tools" from the top of your Firefox window.
Choose "Options" from the drop-down menu.
Select the "Content" tab. Uncheck the box next to
"Block pop-up windows" to disable this feature.
Press the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Options" window.

Click the "Safari" menu Click "Preferences" Click the "Security" tab Click the "Block Pop-up Windows" check-box and clear its checkmark. Close the Preferences dialog box.

Launch Safari. Click the "Safari" menu on the top, Click "Block Pop-up windows" to uncheck it.

Logging In
Once you have your popup blockers turned off,
Enter your User Id & Password.
Click Next.

Acknowledge Acceptable Use Policy
Read ETA Acceptable Use Policy.
Click ‘Accept’.

DPS
Your DPS Homepage should automatically open in a new tab; if not, check to make sure popup blockers are turned off correctly.
If popup blockers ARE turned off (but you’re still at the ETA Login page), under ‘My Approved Applications’ click the words “Defense Personal Property System (DPS)”.

DPS Homepage(New User)
From your DPS Homepage:1. Check the box next to the words “I
have reviewed the…”2. Click “Create Profile”
Note: If you have never used DPS before, you will need to acknowledge your branch of service information. Click the blue words “United States Navy specific information” Note: the words will change depending on your branch of service (i.e. Navy, Air Force, Army, USMC, USCG) A new window will open with your branch of service information; once you have read the information, close the window to return to your DPS Homepage

DPS Homepage(Returning User)
RETURNING USERSIf it has been 30 days or more since you accessed your DPS account you are required to review and update your User Profile.
Click “Review User Profile”; follow the prompts for information
