IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT HOSPITALIZATION IN ATRIUM HEALTH FACILITIES

(CLEVELAND, KINGS MOUNTAIN, ETC.)

Atrium Health does not allow the priest to come within 6 feet of any patient. If at all possible, the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick should be scheduled prior to hospitalization. This means no Anointing or Holy Communion in the hospital, whether or not the patient has the COVID-19 Virus. (Confessions are still possible for non COVID-19 patients.) Call the parish office 704-487-7697 x103 to schedule anointing of the sick prior to hospitalization.

If a family member is ACTIVELY DYING, speak to the charge nurse or the hospital chaplain and explain that the patient is Catholic and requests the Last Rites from the Catholic priest. An exception MAY be allowed but this is will depend on a number of factors. The parish emergency number after hours is 704-487-7697 x300.

Collection will be taken the weekend of September 19-20. Our parish assessments are $7,635 at St. Mary and $1,268 at Christ the King. Your contribution to this important collection is a way to show your gratitude to the priests who serve you so faithfully. We will also collect for Priests’ Retirement the weekends of October 3-4, October 31-November 1, and December 5-6, or until we reach our assessed goals.

Food Bank / Boost & Ensure Donations of non-perishable food and Boost or

Ensure are urgently needed. Suggested food items: cereal, canned soup and pasta, canned fruit, peanut butter, beans, rice, canned vegetables, especially peas. The food will stay in our parish to help fellow parishioners who are out of work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Boost and Ensure will be delivered to the Senior center for use by their patrons.
