OAKMONT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The Borough of Oakmont is looking to fill an Operators Position at its Wastewater Treatment Plant.The Plant is a 1.6 MGD Extended Aeration Activated Sludge Plant, with Aerobic Digesters andCentrifuge used for dewatering. Applicants should have a strong maintenance background and athorough knowledge of the Activated Sludge Process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operates treatment facilities to optimize treatment of effluent and processing of sludge fordisposalDiagnoses operating problems and performs the necessary correctionsMonitors gauges, meters, and control panelsOperates valves and pumps to control treatmentMaintains shift logCollects samples and performs basic lab testsTakes lead role in maintaining plant equipmentUnderstands and carries out oral and written directionsEstablishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during workPerforms other duties and tasks as required

Required Qualifications:

SC 1 PA Operator’s CertificationValid PA Driver’s LicenseKnowledge of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Exel& Access)PLC's and SCADA Systems

Working Conditions :

The work environment will require performing tasks indoors as well as outdoors, often ininclement weather.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise armsabove shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and have fine motorskills to work on equipment; have vision sufficient to service equipment; have hearing in thenormal range with or without correctionIn an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the Plant, ascend and descend steps, liftobjects up to 50 lbs from floor level to waist height and use a push-type lawn mower; wear anduse safety equipment.
