IBC Seismic CertificationCertain Generac industrial-configured products have been updated to meet or exceed the latest and most stringent standards for seismic certification. These products have been designed to meet the strictest building requirements set by the International Code Council.Earlier versions of the IBC code only required structural support, now the new standards classify critical equipment,
including generators, as a component of the building’s structure that must remain operational following an event where the building sustains a seismic force. Generac’s products endured rigorous testing in Illinois and Ohio in order to earn certification to meet all published editions of IBC-2009 along with seismic certification from California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD)for SDS level 2.0 (diesel-fueled products) and 2.5 (spark-ignited products). The certification also includes rooftop applications. The designation applies to the following poducts:Spark-Ignited products: G5.4L-35 to 50kW, G6.8L-50 to 150kW, G9.0L- 80 to 150kW, G12.9L- 80 to 150kW, G13.3L- 150 to 300kW.Diesel products: D4.5L- 35 to 80kW, D6.7L- 100 to 175kW, D8.7L- 200 to 250kW, D10.3L- 275 to 300kW, D12.9L- 300kWYou can now include seismic compliance as an additional option in the configurator to all of the above products. This includes a seismically certified structural support built into the enclosure, as well as motion -isolation rubber mounts shipped with the unit. Option is available for open units as well. Generac is planning to make seismic certification an option for the entire range of their industrial-configured products in the near future. For more information please call your nearest Total Power branch or visit us online at www.totalpower.ca.
