1) All creatures of our God and King,

Bright burning sun with golden beams,
pale silver moon that gently gleams,
O praise him, O praise him!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Fair rising morn, with praise rejoice,
stars nightly shining, find a voice,

THE ACCLAMATION
Celebrant Blessed be God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
People And blessed be his kingdom, now and forever. Amen.
THE COLLECT FOR PURITY
The Celebrant and People pray together
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from
you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the
inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and
worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE SUMMARY OF THE LAW
The Celebrant prays
Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ says: You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is
the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love
your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the
Law and the Prophets. Matthew 22:37-40
THE TRISAGION
Celebrant Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One,
People Have mercy upon us.

THE LESSONS
THE FIRST READING
James 5
Read by Denise Bozich
5 1Come now, you rich people, weep and wail for the miseries that are
coming to you. 2Your riches have rotted, and your clothes are moth-
eaten. 3Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence
against you, and it will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure
for the last days. 4Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your
fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the
harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5You have lived on
the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day
of slaughter. 6You have condemned and murdered the righteous one, who
does not resist you. 7Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the
Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient
with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 8You also must be
patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is
near. 9Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not
be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! 10As an example of
suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name
of the Lord. 11Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance. You
5
have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the
Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
12Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by
any other oath, but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you
may not fall under condemnation. 13Are any among you suffering? They
should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14Are
any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and
have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the
Lord. 15The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them
up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16Therefore
confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may
be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. 17Elijah
was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain,
and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18Then he
prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its
harvest. 19My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the
truth and is brought back by another, 20you should know that whoever
brings back a sinner from wandering will save the sinner’s soul from death
and will cover a multitude of sins.
Reader The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
The People are invited to stand and recite the psalm as directed.
PSALM 8
1
O LORD our Governor, how excellent is your Name in all the world; *
you have set your glory above the heavens! 2
Out of the mouth of babes and infants you have ordained strength,
because of your enemies, *
that you might still the enemy and the avenger. 3
When I consider your heavens, even the works of your fingers, *
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained. 4
What is man, that you are mindful of him; *
the son of man, that you visit him? 5
You made him little lower than the angels, *
to crown him with glory and honor. Continued
6
6
You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands,*
and you have put all things in subjection under his feet; 7
All sheep and oxen, *
even the beasts of the field; 8
The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea; *
and whatsoever walks through the paths of the seas. 9
O LORD our Governor, *
how excellent is your Name in all the world!
HYMN
“What Wondrous Love is This” Music on bulletin p. 18
harm: Andrew Kohn
1) What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul.
2) When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul.
3) To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb, I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb, who is the great I AM,
while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,
while millions join the theme, I will sing.
4) And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing and joyful be,
and through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and through eternity I’ll sing on.

THE GOSPEL
Mark 10:2-16
Read by Mother Ann
Assisting Priest The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according
to Mark.
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
10 2Some Pharisees came, and to test [Jesus] they asked, “Is it lawful for
a man to divorce his wife?” 3He answered them, “What did Moses
command you?” 4They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate
of dismissal and to divorce her.” 5But Jesus said to them, “Because of your
hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you. 6But from the
beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ 7‘For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8and the
two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one
flesh. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
10Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. 11He
said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits
adultery against her; 12and if she divorces her husband and marries
another, she commits adultery.”
13People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch
them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. 14But when Jesus saw this,
he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do
not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God
belongs. 15Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child will never enter it.” 16And he took them up in his arms, laid
his hands on them, and blessed them.
Assisting Priest The Gospel of the Lord.
People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

THE NICENE CREED
The People are invited to stand.
8
Celebrant Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:
Celebrant and People together say BCP 2019 p. 127
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The People are invited to kneel.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Led by Millicent Smith
After each petition
Intercessor Lord, in your mercy
People Hear our prayer.
9
The Celebrant concludes
Heavenly Father, grant these our prayers for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only
Mediator and Advocate, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
THE CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION OF SIN
Assisting Priest Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God.
A brief silence will be kept. BCP 2019 p. 129
All together pray
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word and deed,
by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
The Celebrant stands and says
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has promised
forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith
turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your
sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to
everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The People are invited to stand.
THE PEACE
Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you.
People And with your spirit.
The Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation:
join the great throng, psaltery, organ and song,
sounding in glad adoration.

Hast thou not seen how all thou needest hath been
granted in what he ordaineth?
3) Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy way and defend thee;
surely his goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee;
ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
who with his love doth befriend thee.
4) Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that hath life and breath come now with praises before him!
Let the “Amen” sound from his people again;
gladly for ever adore him.

Celebrant The Lord be with you.
People And with your spirit.
Celebrant Lift up your hearts.
People We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
The Celebrant continues
It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give thanks to
you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Through Jesus Christ
our Lord; who on the first day of the week overcame death and the grave,
and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and
with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the
glory of your Name:

The People are invited to kneel or remain standing to pray.
THE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION
The Celebrant continues
Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself;
and when we had sinned against you and become subject to evil and death,
you, in your mercy, sent your only Son Jesus Christ into the world for our
salvation. By the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary he became flesh and
dwelt among us. In obedience to your will, he stretched out his arms upon
the Cross and offered himself once for all, that by his suffering and death
we might be saved. By his resurrection he broke the bonds of death,
trampling Hell and Satan under his feet. As our great high priest, he
ascended to your right hand in glory, that we might come with confidence
before the throne of grace.
On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and
when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying,
“Take, eat; this is my Body, which is given for you: Do this in
remembrance of me.”
Likewise, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of
the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the
forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of
me.” Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Celebrant and People
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
The Celebrant continues
We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice
of praise and thanksgiving, and we offer you these gifts. Sanctify them by
your Word and Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of
your Son Jesus Christ. Sanctify us also, that we may worthily receive this
holy Sacrament, and be made one body with him, that he may dwell in us
and we in him. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under
your Christ, and bring us with all your saints into the joy of your heavenly
kingdom, where we shall see our Lord face to face.
13
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and
in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours,
Almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Celebrant And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us,
we are bold to pray,
Celebrant and People together pray
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
