Markets NZX’s Markets business includes our capital markets activities that generate revenue from capital raising, trading and clearing, listings, participant services, securities data and derivatives. It also includes NZX’s operation of the Fonterra Shareholders’ Market, and our energy markets business, which largely comprises the contracts we operate on behalf of the Electricity Authority.

Regulation NZX Regulation is the standalone team responsible for monitoring and enforcing the rules under which NZX’s market operates. This involves direct interaction with listed issuers, accredited brokers and investors in NZX’s markets. NZX Regulation also works with NZX’s policy team to develop and enhance NZX’s market rules, practices and policies.

Funds ServicesNZX’s Funds Services business includes Smartshares, SuperLife and NZX Wealth Technologies. Smartshares is a provider of passive funds management products called Exchange Traded Funds. SuperLife is a specialist New Zealand provider of KiwiSaver, superannuation and insurance to individuals and businesses. NZX Wealth Technologies is a wealth management platform that enables New Zealand investment advisors and providers to efficiently manage, trade and administer client portfolios.

NZX AgriNZX’s Agri business includes our print and online publications and data analytic businesses which are based in Australia and New Zealand.

How the programme works

NZX’s Graduate Programme runs for three years. During the programme, graduates can expect to work in a number of NZX teams, gaining appropriate experience across our businesses. This may involve a placement in our markets, funds services and agri businesses, or NZX’s Regulation and policy and legal teams.

The programme is based in our Wellington and Auckland offices, with the opportunity to work with our team in Feilding during the three year programme. You will also have the opportunity to visit organisations that form part of New Zealand’s capital markets ecosystem including the Financial Markets Authority and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Benefits of the programme

NZX encourages graduates to consider a variety of different study options such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme for analysts, or Professional Legal Studies course e.g. at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) or College of Law for graduates, rotating in NZX’s legal teams.

Support

You’ll be assigned a mentor, someone who has been with NZX for at least two years in a similar role. It’ll be their job to help you settle into life at NZX, and answer questions you have. Plus you’ll have an executive sponsor, a member of NZX’s leadership team, who will help you get a broad view of NZX’s businesses.
