NXE-EDH Energy Data Hub The NXE-EDH Energy Data Hub range of products are next generation Web-enabled devices for the centralised collection, presentation and control of energy data. The NXE-EDH combines many previously separate energy measurement, presentation and control functions into a single powerful device.

The device acts as an energy data hub collecting metering information from a variety of primary and sub metering sources which is then stored in the on-board high capacity SQL database. This data can then be presented on a standard Web browser as energy profiles, alerts, dynamic Sankey diagrams or as automatic Monitoring and Targeting (aM&T) data.

The NXE-EDH can also include a special version of Altitude Web based control and monitoring software for Building Automation Systems and Industrial processes. Altitude includes drivers for all leading Building Management Systems (BMS) & PLC’s enabling the BMS/PLC to be used to record energy consumption data for the connected plant and equipment. In addition the plant operation data such as run times (for virtual energy meters), valve & damper positions, boiler, chiller and plant operation can all be viewed in real time or trended along with energy consumption to rapidly identify operational and strategy problems that cause excess energy consumption and cost. Altitude also includes standard applications for browser-based, real-time graphics, alarm management, data logging, time scheduling and setpoint control.

The NXE-EDH provides a highly scalable solution in one unit that can deliver data logging, energy profiling and alerts locally with the ability to fully integrate with an aM&T on a central server. The NXE-EDH can also interface to a Building Management Systems, Industrial processes or individual items of plant to provide browser based control and monitoring capability both locally and remotely.

Meter Data The NXE-EDH connects to a multitude of meter data sources providing ultimate flexibility of meter data collection including:

NXE-LEM Wireless Mesh clip on Current Transformers (CT’s). NXE-OMR Optical Meter Reading device for devices with no pulse output or data interface. Pulse meter inputs, local to the NXE-EDH or distributed via communication methods below. Electricity meter FLAG data from any UK electronic meter. Modbus meters.

Meter Communications The NXE-EDH reads the meter data using many communications media and protocols:

ZigBee Wireless Mesh, an intelligent self forming wireless network providing low cost resilient communications. IP communications via corporate intranet or Internet. Mains communication (powerline) uses the existing electricity power cables for communications. Modbus networks (Serial and IP based). Serial communications (FLAG). Interfaces to any UK electronic electricity meter. Radio communications via license free radio and GSM/GPRS

Data Storage The NXE-EDH collects data at specified intervals (typically every ½ hour for meters) and stores the data into an onboard SQL database. The database features huge data capacity of up to 4GB sufficient to store many years of data. Data may be automatically transferred to a remote database for backup, archive and for multi-site analysis.

Data Presentation The NXE-EDH optionally includes energy profiling and alarming features on board. Data is presented via a standard Web browser in a variety of interactive graphical and tabular formats.

Energy analysis profiles Alarms and Alerts Target analysis Tabular reports Sankey diagrams (optional) Real time plant mimics (with BMS/PLC connectivity option)

Applications Sub metering for compliance with Part L2 Energy AMR & aM&T Tenant metering (half-hourly energy data) Demand Management via BMS or other devices Key Performance Indicators e.g. energy cost per unit

produced Public displays / remote monitoring of Renewables Energy cost savings and improved efficiency Protocol conversion e.g. Modbus BACNet

Benefits Single scalable and cost effective solution combines

AMR, Energy Profiling & Demand Management. Out of the box solution, includes hardware and

software ready to run Avoid estimated meter readings Reveals half hour meter data to identify cost savings Potential improvement to supply tariffs Avoids requirements for meter replacement Cost effective sub metering & tenant billing solutions Simple Web-based configuration Open data connectivity (CSV, SQL, XML) Real time data over IP User –friendly Demand Management Multiple communication options

Control The NXE-EDH optionally controls time schedules, setpoints and overrides via a simple Web browser interface to actively reduce the energy consumption. Plant mimics show data from disparate systems in real time in a common format providing the ability to quickly re-think, plan and improve building or plant operational efficiency, with measurable results.

Alarms and Alerts The NXE-EDH provides powerful alarming and alert functions, a wide variety of alarms can be configured, viewed and acknowledged via the simple Web browser interface. The alert function allows alarms to be notified via:

Email SMS Text message On-screen via a Web Browser Printer alerts Built in alarm response forms inform the operator of the required alarm response, e.g. turn off lights, inform maintenance

company. Built in alarm escalation, alarms which are not acknowledged within a time period are automatically escalated to an

alternative recipient.

Features Cost effective, all in one Web based solution for meter data

acquisition, presentation and energy control RS485 & RS232 interfaces for interrogation of serial based

meters Support for industry standard metering protocols, such as

PACT and IEC1107 Scalable functionality: can be licensed for just required
