LIB-erate Feminist Library
Our magical feminist and LBT library is now open!
Women’s libraries are now in scarce supply across the country and the new Nottingham Women’s Centre library is the only one of its
kind in the East Midlands. The library still holds most of the original
– and often rare – books donated in the 1970s/80s when the library was first set up, as well as more contemporary works. The space
has been refurbished with support from Awards for All, the Co-
operative Membership (Central and Eastern Region), the East
Midlands Airport Development Fund, Nottingham Girls High School,
Experian and the time and hard work of many committed women.
Books are available for borrowing to all members; see the page in this brochure for further benefits of Nottingham Women’s Centre
membership.

Did you know?
This October over 30 women took part in our fabulous firewalk to raise money for Nottingham Women’s Centre.
In addition to helping us raise much needed funds to support the
work of the Centre the firewalkers also really enjoyed meeting other
women, challenging themselves and doing something amazing.
Their feedback showed us how much this activity helped them with
their confidence.
One woman said “I did it because I’ve always wanted to – I thought
it would give me a sense of power and achievement and it has. I
think as a woman it is important to do this and encourage other women who use the Centre to say ‘look what we can do – together
we can do anything'” Well done to all who took part!
It doesn’t have to end here....
Nottingham Women’s Centre is YOUR centre. Tell us what groups,
events or activities you’d like to see at the Centre or get in touch if
you’d like to bring your own women’s meetings/activities to our venue.
