1) Congratulations to Team 2 and 5 for 1st half playoff honors. 2) Your playoff times are 2:14(A), 2:22(B), 2:30(C) and 2:38(D)

Good Luck to teams 2 and 5 in their Trek Congrats to teams 2 & 5 who will square off next week for 1st half honors. Last night Tom Freeman and Scott Hassan destroyed Team 3's chances of advancing to the playoffs shooting net 32 and 28s in the A and D groups respectively. Between them they accounted for 26.5 points. Conversely Team 5 did what it needed to do to earn the 2nd playoff berth. Apparently Curt Schilling Jr. plays in the NGL (Photo to follow). Last night Casey's physical prowess and grace all came in to play after he finished a wedge shot when his club head fell to Earth as he admired his majestic ball flight. The iron smashed into his ankle drawing blood which soaked through his sock (starting to sound familiar?). . George B. was able to patch his partner up with a napkin and some tape and get him back out there. Like Schilling, Casey continued on to play and lead his team to victory. George could empathize with his partner as two years ago a driver shaft snapped on George's during his follow through, stabbing him in the back with the jagged graphite shaft. So don't worry when you play these two, they only hurt themselves. The group ahead of Jim Mellin's foursome tried to do the stand-up thing by calling up Jim's foursome on the par 3 #5 last night. However they only allowed the 3 golfers hitting from the white tees to tee off before Harnois and company started putting out. Given Jim hits from the gold tees, this led to Jim having to wait to tee off until Harnois' group finished (no worries Harnois was flogged for this later for this in the clubhouse but unfortunately he enjoyed it). The league announced in the club house last night that that were naming a rock after Jim Mellin after the "Blarney Stone" seemingly performed two miracles. After waiting patiently to tee off, Jim duck-hooked a

diving line drive towards the bridge and pond. All was seemingly lost for about 0.2 seconds when suddenly the ball not only reappeared above sea level, but came to rest in the fairway. Two groups later, someone in that foursome hitting from the white tees hit what appeared to be the same rock which provided safe passage over the pond as well. Harnois continues to rant about wanting Egan back even after Ray mentioned how much fun he had playing with Jin Lee last night (cue Neil Sedeca's "breaking up is Hard to Do"). The league is taking a collection to find Brian Halpin. We need the money to get his face out on every milk carton in the tri-state area as well as purchase the copyrights to a famous board game to rename it "Where in the World is Carmen Brian Halpin" to achieve this. We have every confidence that Brian will be found and make his mark in the second half. 26 June - 1st Half Playoffs on Back 9 for Teams 5 and 2 - MINI Tournament set for Rest of Teams on Back 9. Prizes will be awarded for the 4 best score tourney. 1st half winner not eligible for 4 best score tourney only the remaining 8 teams are in the mix. The President will setup the Tee Times for the Tourney and will be published by Monday Morning. The BIG THING to remember is to have FUN FUN FUN FUN.

And don’t get Mad at these shots……….

These shots happen for a reason………………

Weather for the UPCOMING MINI Tourney Round: Day Jun 26

Temperature: 75°FHigh Partly Cloudy Chance of rain: 10% Wind: SSW at 12 mph Humidity: 76% UV Index: 9 - Very High Sunset: 8:24 pm Notes: Marking your Ball when on the Green: Place the marker behind the ball and then lift your ball. When placing your ball place the ball in front of the ball marker and lift the ball marker. The ball marker should be right up against the ball. Anything else is CHEATING. Gimme Putts when on the Green: Example: I am on the green and putting for a bogey (5) and it rolls 35 feet and stops 6 inches from the hole. The other team gives me the putt. The score is not a Bogey(5) it is a 6 as the gimme counts as one. Anything else is CHEATING. Captains should call/e-mail the handicapper, Pete Michno, no later than 1100 Thursday to give their line-ups. However, I’m sure the handicapper would appreciate Captains providing the line-ups earlier if you have them set. 1100 on Thursday should be the exception, not the rule. Captains should inform all retirees and non-NUWC members on their teams to use the website for all League information.

Slow Play Watch: No Major complaints this week. Advice to all – play like there is imminent inclement weather. The fear of being rained on apparently made people move quicker! Joke of the Week Just Think... Negotiations between union members and their employer were at an impasse. The union denied that their workers were flagrantly abusing their contract's sick-leave provisions. One morning at the bargaining table, the company's chief negotiator held aloft the morning edition of the newspaper, "This man," he announced, "called in sick yesterday!" There on the sports page, was a photo of the supposedly ill employee, who had just won a local golf tournament with an excellent score. The silence in the room was broken by a union negotiator. "Wow," he said. "Just think of what kind of score he could have had if he hadn't been sick!"

Quote of the Week

The golf swing is like a suitcase into which we are trying to pack one too many things.
