National Baseline Survey

• Conducted b/n 18th January – 5th February 2016 on 400 HHs

• Tablet based & additional paper base 24h dietary recall

The main indicators of the baseline survey were:

• Individual Dietary Diversity Score Women (IDDS-W) for mothers 15-

49 years of age to increase by 0.5 food groups

• Minimum Acceptable Diet (MAD) for infants and young children 6-23

months of age increase of proportion by 3-5%

• Household Food Insecurity Experience Scale (HFIES) of

interviewed households

• Crop diversity and post-harvest handling of interviewed households

Results obtained on agriculture, DD, WASH & KAP

• 44.5 % illiterate

• 70% have home gardens

• Access to fruits 26.4%

• Improved sanitation facility 12.3%

• Open defecation 51.5%

• Use soap after defecation 66%

• Diarrhea 31.2% of children within 2 weeks

• Under five clinic visit 4.2% & antenatal care 4.1%

• OFSP & Irish potato consumption – less than 5%

• Hygiene & nutrition counselling 88.4% & 80.9%

• Only 32% food secure

• IDDS-W 3.1%

• 17.1% achieved MAD

• 31.9% nearby dirty water

• Preference of watery porridge 51%

• 6.8% achieved MDD-W

• Fasting without ASFs

• HHs were volunteer but with scattered settlement
