Entry Test Guide Booklet
by NUST Guideline
-Some Guidelines about NET (NUST Entrance Test 2013):
1- This year in 2013 two Tests will be held in April and in July computer based!
2- A paper based test will be conducted in July only for remote area students
3- Yes test is also for medical students
4- You can attempt any one test out of these. Whether April or July
5- if you take two tests then the Best score test will be considered in the merit list
6- Result of April Test will be announced before the July test
7- After that the both test are conducted candidates will be asked to submit their score in August
to NUST administration
8- They will prepare Merit list and the selection of candidates will be made
9- Classes will start in September hopefully
10- Registration for the April test will be available in late January or in February.
-Test Syllabus
The entry test is mostly based upon FA / FSc level studies (Part-1 & Part-II) and questions are in
the form of MCQs. The paper of English is on the lines of SAT exam. A sample paper may be
seen on NUST website. For Architecture program only, a Cognitive and Aptitude test will be
conducted which is descriptive type.
- Topics For General Knowledge Portion
Following topics may be given due emphasis while preparing for General Awareness:
Pakistan Studies including history, Geographical Features/Details, Culture, Sports.
International Affairs including States, Government, Facts & Treaties, Important Submits.
General Knowledge including Indo-Pak history, Global Salient, Sports, Music, Art, World
History, Historic events, Historical Heritage.
-You should be a CNIC/B-form Holder
All Fsc-A/level students are advised that they should have their CNIC or B form prepared.
Otherwise you will not be eligible for NUST entrance test. If you don't have one. Apply for it
now.
https://www.facebook.com/NustGuideLine
-Tips about 2 NETs (2013)
-It is not necessary or compulsory to give both tests. You can be admitted on the basis of any one
entrance tests either Net-1 or Net-2.
-The 2nd Net is just a 2nd opportunity that if someone missed the first NET or didn't perform
well he can improve his score by giving the 2nd NET.
-Info about NET 2013
The new system of UG admissions at NUST is being implemented in the year 2013. The salient
features of the new system are given below:
--The process of entrance test is delinked from admission process.
--During an admission cycle, candidates can appear in entrance test more than once to improve
their score, and apply for admission separately on the basis of best score when applications are
invited tentatively in April-May.
--Computer based entrance tests for all disciplines will be held in multiple sessions at NUST
Campus Islamabad according to the following schedule:
First Session (NET 1) - April
Second Session (NET 2) - July
Selection of candidates for Engineering / Computer Science / BS Mathematics / Business Studies
/ Social Sciences / Bachelor of Architecture will start from August 2013 and for MBBS / BDS /
Applied Biosciences from October 2013, and will continue till the completion of available seats
prior to commencement of programs.
- About NUST Hostel
1- There is sufficient hostel accommodation. Since so many disciplines are there at h 12. So
usually there is a competition for hostel but finally u people will be entertained.
2- There is no compulsion for anyone to bring the specific stuff. Generally u should bring 1
pillow 2 bed sheets (any color) and other important things of your requirement.
https://www.facebook.com/NustGuideLine
3- There will be 2 students in a room. Internet (WiFi) will be available to u people. Your clothes
will be washed and ironed in laundry (if u want. No compulsion) charges for internet laundry are
already included in your hostel dues.
4- 1 thing most important that computer is so much included in your studies. So you should bring
desktop or laptop whatever you want.
5- In messing Breakfast+Lunch+Dinner will be served to u people. Rs.100 per day
6- Other than mess u can purchase the things of your will from cafe (concordia 1, concordia 2
and Dandy’s Cafe) things like stationary will also be available to u from mini mart also.
-TIP FOR REGISTRATION
Please think a lot while choosing your preferences, better ask from us so that we can tell
you about the best campus for the technology of your choice.
If you are O-level student please be careful about your equivalence certificate. Don’t just
calculate on your own. Make sure if you choose a field, your subjects in O/A-level must
meet the requirement.
-Choosing Between Paper and Computer Based Tests
When choosing between the computerized and paper based tests.
The Computerized system is in favor of the students. You’ll click the button as you’ll get ready
and the time will start. You’ll just have to select the correct ans. And of course it will save u the
time of filling up the circles. You all will get a fair time and also u can change your answer after
selecting it once. So in our opinion go for the computer based test if u can.
-Books Consultation for Entry Test
Most of the students have this question in their mind that which books they should consult in
order to ensure their admission in engineering university/medical college.
Refer to your text books. Grasp each and every concept ...
Math’s, physics, chemistry, biology. These all can be prepared very well from the text books. As
far as English is concerned, you can refer Sat book for this purpose.
https://www.facebook.com/NustGuideLine
-Rule of Setting Preference
RULE for preferences and merit.
Specifically for Engineering:
You have to give 9 preferences according to your interest
Prefer the Engineering first which you have more interest.
For Example you preferred Electrical engineering at 1
and if after test you also get merit so high to be admitted in electrical then you will get in
electrical ... if your merit is low then they will move on to your second preferences which for
example is mechanical... if u are in the merit range of mechanical engineering you’ll get
admission in it.. Or else they will see your 3rd preference and so on.
Usually the high to low merit program wise sequence is
electrical>mechanical>mechatronics>chemical>civil> environmental material software etc...
-Test Pattern
The entry test is mostly based upon FA / FSc level studies (Part-1 & Part-II) and questions are in
the form of MCQs. The paper of English is on the lines of SAT exam. A sample paper may be
seen on NUST website. For Architecture programme only, a Cognitive and Aptitude test will be
conducted which is descriptive type.
