Nursing: What You Need to KnowCare

(Effective 11/6)

The Patient Care Overview (PCO) and Generic Teaching Goals/Outcomes will now be automatically addedwhen the patients chart is opened for the first time by nursing staff or ancillary users that utilize Care Plans(Therapists, Case Management/Social Work, Respiratory Therapists, etc.).

The clinician that opens the chart will receive this one-time, informational pop-up.

Medications

Expired medicines will no longer automatically come off the medicine list. Instead, they will appear in grey withan (Expired) after the medicine name/dosing. These medicines can quickly be reordered by clicking the reorderbutton.

If the expired medicine is truly no longer being taken, you can discontinue the medicine by clicking the X

Discontinued medicine are removed from the medicine list immediately.

SurgeryPostoperative

Diagnosis

As part of the surgical debrief the postoperative diagnosis should be updated.

While MLH maps many procedures to a single CPT code - it's the procedure description that carries to thepatient's surgical history, discharge summary after visit summary and is shared with other users on Epic.
