• At the time of partition there was only one

1st Course – Lady Assistant:• On Preliminary basis title of Lady Assistant was

created to meet the situation. Criteria for thistraining was middle and period of training twoweeks practical course in elementary nursingprocedures.

scheme was launched through which majority ofwomen were invited in profession and this schemewas named Auxiliary Nurses Scheme.

•1952: PNC Act 1952 was passed a uniform system waspassed for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors

Superintendent was created in theDirectorate of Health. Mrs. Salma Tareenwas first CNS in Punjab.

• 1961: The Post of CNS was re-designed assection Officer (Nursing) and Mrs. SalmaTareen continued the post till 1962.

• 1973: Provincial Nursing Council wasdissolved and replaced with Pakistannursing council.
