    Structure• Before 1950s

    •Administration remained on ad-hoc basis

    • 1984: Punjab Nursing Council was organized

    • Mrs. Tiffany May was first registrar of Punjab Nursing

    • Nursing Council was also formed in East Pakistan

    •1952: PNC Act 1952 was passed a uniform system waspassed for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors

    Superintendent was created in theDirectorate of Health. Mrs. Salma Tareenwas first CNS in Punjab.

    • 1961: The Post of CNS was re-designed assection Officer (Nursing) and Mrs. SalmaTareen continued the post till 1962.

    • 1973: Provincial Nursing Council wasdissolved and replaced with Pakistannursing council.
