We all like invitations. Even when we aren’t particularly inter-ested in attending an event or par-ticipating in an activity, it’s nice to

be asked. Someone considered we were worth the effort, and that makes us feel good. As I study the Bible, I am struck by God’s invitations to His people, particularly as they are presented to us through His Son Jesus Christ. The word that keeps jumping out at me is “Come!” It is an invitation to closeness, to the building of a relationship. I can’t think of anything more important in this new year before us than building a closer, deeper relationship with Jesus. It’s what He wants for us, so He beckons us to come on a journey of spiritual growth—not by ourselves, but with Him. This journey is the theme of our Sunday morning worship series for the next few weeks. I have picked out a progression of invi-tations, primarily from the New Testament, that map out a path of growth for us—what we often call “discipleship.” These are in no way comprehensive, and I am likely to make changes along the way, but here are some of the upcoming topics:

“Come and See” (Invitation to Seek)

“Come and Follow” (Invitation to Commit)

“Come and Worship” (Invitation to Connect)

“Come and Die” (Invitation to Sacrifice)

“Come and Rest” (Invitation to Peace)

“Come and Enjoy” (Invitation to Heaven)

Our spiritual journey is one we must make in the pres-ence of Jesus, but it is also more joy-filled when we do it with each other, as well. I hope you will make Sunday worship and Bible study a priority in your schedule for the new year. God bless you all! Pastor Phil

I want to thank all of you who have helped in so many ways to launch the Hebron Campus. I am excited about all of the great things that God is doing. We’ve had two professions of faith! We also have several families that attend regularly that have not been actively involved in a church before. This is incredibly exciting for us.

The other day, I had ran into two people. One of them has a son, whose family just began attending our Hebron Campus. She told me they were all sick this weekend and would be out of town the next weekend, but they were really enjoying being at Hebron. The second occurred when I was at the Courthouse picking up a permit. A mother with a small baby came out of one of the offices. She asked me, “Do I know you? Are you the pastor at Hebron?” I said “Yes, and you are Brittany and this must be Bryson.” She told me “I am sorry we have not been in a while, I have been exhausted but I heard you prayed for us Sunday.” I could see she was touched by our prayers.

Some people have asked how they can help? First, keep us in your prayers. Next, we need lots of work done on the property. January 14th is a work day from 9 until 12. We will be working on handicap ramps and other projects preparing our classroom trailer for use. Plus, we can always use people to clean or rake leaves, so anyone can par-ticipate in this day. Finally; come visit one Sunday. We miss our friends and family from Pole Green.
