Page 1: Nu Flow Monaco - Grimaldi Forum

Nu Flow and its international partner in Monaco completed a large fire suppression pipe rehabilitation project for the small country’s most elegant convention center. The project, highly publicized in Monaco, was Nu Flow Monaco’s first work with the patented Nu Line system, so Nu Flow sent its corporate potable specialists to Europe to offer their expertise and ensure the project was a success.

Project: Use the Nu Line system to rehabilitate fire suppression mains without business disruption.

Customer: Grimaldi Forum in Larvotto, Monaco, is a beautiful, seafront conference and congress center.

Site: The mechanical room in the Grimaldi Forum.

System: Approximately 2,000 feet of fire suppression mains with a 6" diameter and a large number of 90 degree elbows. These iron pipes are throughout the building, located above ceilings and hanging from ceilings in many of the building’s rooms, including theatres and storage rooms.

Problem: After an inspection of the mains revealed corrosion, the customer feared that the corrosion would lead to leaks (and expensive damage), so they chose Nu Flow’s in-place rehabilitation process as a means to prevent future leaks and additional corrosion.

Circumvention: If the customer had chosen a traditional pipe repair method, such as a repipe, the project would have been much more expensive and disruptive. In order for the pipes to be removed and replaced, schedules for the theatre, opera and conference rooms would have to be postponed and changed. Also, the large number of 90 degree elbows throughout the system would have made a repipe extremely challenging. A traditional repair would have resulted in a large financial loss for the Grimaldi Forum, as well as several months of disruptions.

Solution: This high-profile customer was happy to find Nu Flow’s nonintrusive solution, Nu Line, for the project. Since this was Nu Flow Monaco’s first potable job, Nu Flow’s potable director and a lead potable technician flew to Monaco to assist with the project.

Existing access points in the mechanical room were used to clean and line the fire suppression pipes. Our blown-in epoxy was pushed through the pipe system using clean, compressed air. Special attention had to be given to prepare the proper volumes of compressed air for the many 90 degree elbows. The epoxy cured to form a protective barrier coating along the inside of the pipes, which will prevent future corrosion, pinhole leaks and other common failures. Nu Flow’s patented Nu Line process prevented any demolition or disruption to the property, saving the customer a lot of money. The job was completed in a matter of weeks, compared to the months it would have taken for a traditional pipe replacement.

“This customer was especially pleased because we weren’t intrusive. Our unique solution

rehabilitated the pipes without disrupting their regular routines and scheduled events.”
