• Propose to target temperature rise below 2oC

• Aim for the best scenario of 1.5 deg temperature rise

• Carbon Emission will need to significantly reduce to have a chance for the climate to slow down the rate of rising and hopefully keep the temperature on Earth to a manageable level.

• This means we need to rethink how we generate, use our energy in Australia with our dependent on coal fire power plant.

• Do we active system to meet the design? Can we have a hybrid system where the control can reduce the demand on energy to deliver the same result?

• Carpark ventilation is a good example. CO monitoring has significantly reduce the amount of run time from 24 hours to less than 1 hours in some instant. That is reducing from 8760 hours to under 400 hours.

• CO2 sensors or demand control has the same effect for air conditioning systems, reducing the OA load to the system.

How do we do it?PASSIVE

• What is the trending in the building load from the building history, tenant usage patterns, seasonal trends?

• We have a lot of data nowadays to better understanding the characteristic of the building.

• It could be changing the AHU schedule where the tenant start later in the day. Or adjusting the start up procedure, recycle the warm air in the building before open the system to OA in the winter morning

• Converting a previously unused roof area to a energy saving and cost saving resources.

• This is a 400kW system with anticipated payback at under 7 years.

• A cooling solution that integrates with the school’s solar power.

• Improved Indoor Air Quality, particularly where needed in learning environments.

• A common control platform for ease of operation by school personnel.

• Exceeds minimum O/A requirements from Australian Standard AS1668.2.

Projects – Sullivan Auto Group

• Project used 2,300 solar panels, 1,800 LED lights and 51 CW-H15 Climate Wizards with a cooling capacity of 765 kW.

• The retrofit was able to achieve an 86% energy saving.

• Total project reduced Greenhouse Gases by 1,932 tons, the equivalent of removing 408 cars from the road.
