CONVENER'S MESSAGE
It is with pleasure that I welcome all competitors, officials, teachers and parents to the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges 2014 Athletic Championships. These Championships give students from all Catholic Secondary schools affiliated with Catholic Schools Sports Services the opportunity to compete against each other. Teams entered in this carnival will be representing their Diocese or Association. I would like to wish them every success in their endeavours.
There is also the opportunity for students to achieve times and performances in the lead up to the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships to be held on this track Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th October 2014.
Thank you to all the teachers and Diocesan/Association officials who have prepared the athletes for these Championships. Thank you to the officials from Athletics NSW who are integral to the success of these Championships. Also thank you to the students from St Scholastica’s College Glebe who are assisting throughout the day.
Parking allocation for spectators is a $14.00 flat rate for the P1 and P2 car parks. Patrons can have their ticket validated at King’s Sports Store on the concourse level.

ATHLETICS RULES – 2014 The NSWCCC Convener reserves the right to change the order and start time of events
Simultaneous Entries- IAAF Rule 142.3 “If a competitor is entered in both a track and a field event, or in more than one field event taking place simultaneously, the appropriate Referee may, for one round at a time, or for each trial in High Jump, allow the competitor to take his trial in an order different from that decided upon by the draw prior to the start of the competition.
However, if an athlete subsequently is not present for this trial, it shall be deemed that he is passing once the period allowed for the trial has elapsed.” In the case of the High Jump, if an athlete is not present when all other athletes who are present have completed the competition, the Referee shall deem that such athlete(s) has abandoned the competition, once the period for one further trial has elapsed”
This rule means that no event will be held up for an athlete regardless of whether they have registered or not. If an athlete is not present during a round at a field event, then he/she is not entitled to an attempt in that round
IAAF & IPC RULES WILL APPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONS / EXCEPTIONS 1 A lane draw will be conducted for the championships. Where a competitor is missing, the NSWCCC
Convener reserves the right to change the lane allocation for the benefit of the event
2 Age is at the 31st December 2014 (ie. the age the competitor turns this year.)
3 Athletes must compete in their own age group – 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs, 16yrs, 17/18yrs, 19yrs.
4 Teams may enter one competitor in the following events 1500m run, hurdles, 800m, 400m, Discus, Shot, Javelin, Long Jump and High Jump and 1 team in the relay. Two competitors per team may be entered in the 1500m walk,100m, 200m and Triple Jump. Additional entries will be accepted at the discretion of the NSWCCC Executive. These must be submitted by the closing date as per NSWCCC Guidelines.
5 Competitors may enter as many events in their age group as they wish. Students entered in a number of events are responsible for ensuring that they do not miss their events.
6 Competitors will be issued with a bib number that must be worn on the front of the shirt during competition
7 Ground officials and competitors only shall be allowed onto the arena, and competitors must leave as soon as their event is finished. Team managers, coaches and spectators should remain outside the field of play
8 Track competitors should report to the marshalling area (which is adjacent to the start) when their event is called. Athletes and team management should ensure athletes do not turn up for track events too early possibly jeopardising their competition at field events
9 The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre is a synthetic ‘Mondo’ surface, hence spikes can only be a maximum of 9mm for High Jump and Javelin Throw and 7mm for all other events
10 Startinga. Use of a crouch start is compulsory in all events up to & including 400m & relays b. Use of starting blocks is compulsory for all events up to and including 400m c. Competitors must occupy the lane allocated d. Method – Rule 162.3 events up to and including 400m

e. False Starts- IAAF Rule 162 .7 No False Start Rule will apply. The Competition will be conducted under the new IAAF false start rule for athletes in the 14, 15, 16, 17/18 & 19yrs age groups. A dispensation has been granted for athletes in the 12 & 13yrs age group and below (full details available from www.nswathletics.org.au
12 Field Events Competitors must report to the field event area when their event is called. Competition will consist of only 3 (three) rounds in Jumps (excepting High Jump) and Throws. On completion of competition, the first 3 place-getters should proceed to the presentation area immediately.

15 Placings – IAAF Rule 181.8 If two or more athletes clear the same final height the procedure to decide the places will be the following. (a) The athlete with the lowest number of jumps at the height last cleared shall be awarded the higher place.
(b) If the athletes are equal following the applications of rule 181.8 (a), the athlete with the lowest total of failures throughout the competition up to and including the height last cleared, shall be awarded the higher place.
(c) If the athletes are still equal following the application of Rule 181.b (b), the athletes concerned shall be awarded the same place unless it concerns first place.
17 Protests - Rule 146.3 “Any protest shall in the first instance, be made orally to the Referee by the athlete, or someone acting on his behalf”This means at the time of the problem, the athlete should make a protest to the ANSW official conducting the event. The referee may decide on the issue or refer the matter to the Jury of Appeal. If the Referee makes a decision, there shall be a right of appeal to the Jury. The athlete has the right to appeal to the Jury this must be in writing and submitted by the team manager within 20 minutes of the announcement of the referee’s decision. It should be handed to the Convener in the administration room accompanied by a deposit of $20– which will be forfeited should the protest not be successful.
18 Accidents Should an accident occur, the official/s & teacher/s in charge of the event are to fill out an accident form and return to the recording area. The injured athlete should report to the first aid officer at the ground
19 Athletes with a disability must be officially classified. The copy of the classification card must be forwarded with the entries to the Executive Officer by the closing date as per the NSWCCC Guidelines
20 Athletes with a disability shall compete together in a multidisability event. Places will be determined on individual performance percentage of the Australian record for their classification. The athlete with the greater percentage shall be awarded the medal
21 Athletes with a disability will fall into one of the following classifications
Visually Impaired (T/F 11; 12; 13); Athletes with learning difficulties (T/F 20); Cerebral Palsy (T/F 31 – 38); Ambulatory athletes (T/F 40; T/F 42 – 46); Wheelchair athletes (T54– 56;); Deaf (T/F 01)
22 Athletes wishing to use their own throwing equipment should check it in at the equipment store two hours prior to the advertised starting time for their event
23 Relays must be school based
24 Boys and Girls Age Champions will be determined by all events excluding relays. 1st: 16 points 2nd: 14 points 3rd: 12 points 4th: 10points
