Dear NRMCA Spouses and Guests,

First, let me introduce myself for the benefit of those whom I have not had the pleasure to meet. I am Vikki Childs. My husband, Bill Childs,

president and CEO of Chaney Enterprises in Gambrills, Maryland, is the current NRMCA Chairman of the Board. We hope you and your families are enjoying a

great summer, it is zooming by and soon it will be time to attend NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks & Board of Directors’ Meeting. This year’s meeting will take place from September 22 - 24, 2013 and is being held at the

beautiful Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, located outside of downtown Las Vegas.

For those of you who are new to NRMCA, we put together a program for spouses/guests to provide some activities during the day while our “significant others” are occupied with meetings. There will be a Spouse/Guest Hospitality Suite located in the Vistas Meeting Room that will be open every day, which will provide a place to read, play cards, games, visit with other spouses/guests and otherwise relax as and if you want. Also, for the first time at the Annual Convention in March, we held a devotional/inspirational hour on Sunday morning. This event was a big success and we had many requests to continue providing this activity at future meetings, so on Sunday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m., led by immediate past Chairman David Robison and his wife Teresa, we will, once again hold a Devotional/Inspirational Hour. This is for all who wish to attend, both spouses/guests and members of NRMCA. Please feel free to bring in books and other inspirational passages you would like to share with those who attend.

Prior to the Devotional/Inspirational Hour, beginning at 7:00 a.m., the National Mixer Driver Championship will take place. The event will be held in the parking lot across from the Red Rock Resort. We know many of you have delivery professionals competing for the prestigious award of being the #1 Mixer Driver in the United States and want to be there for them. We encourage everyone to attend to “cheer on” all the drivers! They are true professionals who have accomplished a lot to make it to the national championship! Truly, they are all winners, so let’s show them our support!

A couple of years ago, someone suggested participating in a community service project. Past projects include making Binky Blankets for children and Birdhouses for Habitat for Humanity. Scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, our community service project will take place and will benefit the Clean the World® organization, a charitable organization committed to reducing the waste created by discarded soap and shampoo products. This program helps prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses. The day will end with the NRMCA’s Chairman’s Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall portion of the Red Rock Ballroom at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday, September 23, we have something very exciting planned, a backstage tour of the famous Jubilee! from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Jubilee! at Bally’s Las Vegas, is a glitzy and glamorous extravaganza show that includes close to 100 performers in seven full acts and more than 1,000 beautiful costumes. The elaborate, feathered head wear and bejeweled (and sometimes, scanty) costumes on the performers are what immediately come to mind when we think of Jubilee! Please note, this tour does require an additional fee. Upon our return to the hotel, we will gather in the spouse/guest hospitality suite for an ice cream and wine social from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, September 24, we will kick off our last day together with a spouse/guest breakfast from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. After the breakfast, please feel free to attend the closing general session meeting at 10:00 a.m. to hear a representative from a local shelter discuss what impact the hygiene kits you assembled will have in the community and give recognition to the spouse program for the work and dedication to community service. Our last organized activity together will be a beginners’ yoga class from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. For novices and experts alike, whether it’s your first time or you’re a pro, join us for this private lesson.

Again, please join us! I look forward to spending time together at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa with new members and with “old” friends. Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer!

Sincerely,

Vikki Childs

Activity DescriptionsDevotional TimeThe spouse/guest program invites you to come and join in a non-denominational devotional session. We encourage you to bring your husbands to this activity as it is open to ALL attendees of the conference. Past discussions included the sharing of favorite devotional or spiritual books.

Clean the World, ONE Project Hygiene Kit Assembly Clean the World has a two-part mission: • Collect and recycle soap and shampoo products discarded

by the hospitality industry every day. • Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene

products to impoverished people, prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.

Join us as we host a ONE Project hygiene kit building event. ONE Project Kit Items include bars of soap, bottled shampoo and conditioner, bottled lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razor, wash cloth and a chance for you to include an inspirational note card. These assembled kits will be donated to domestic homeless shelters, providing much needed hygiene products to individuals throughout the U.S. who are struggling to meet their family’s basic needs. There’s a special bond formed when individuals work together for a common good and these results can reap benefits that reach beyond just our event. A representative from a local homeless shelter will address the group at the Closing General Session and discuss the impact that your kits will make in the community. All materials will be provided.

Soap DriveTo take it one step further, NRMCA encourages you to follow in their footsteps by donating new, wrapped bars of soap to the Clean the World organization. Every 10 seconds, a child dies from a disease that could have been prevented with proper hygiene. The bar soap we will be collecting will be used to save lives in hygiene kits that are made to distribute to domestic homeless shelters in the U.S. or sent to one of the 45 countries Clean the World distributes to that greatly need bar soap. We encourage you to get participation from your company, church, and/or community. Please ship your collection to NRMCA

no later than Tuesday, September 3, 2013. If you decide to participate in this event

by setting up a donation drive, please contact Jessica Walgenbach at [email protected] and you will be provided fliers that you can use to promote your drive and shipping labels for sending your donation items to NRMCA (NRMCA will pick up the cost of shipping). If you cannot set up a drive,

please consider bringing one bar of soap with you to the conference for donation.

Spouse/Guest Tour JUBILEE! Backstage Tour COST: $95/per personThe image of a Vegas show girl has been as synonymous with the town as the name itself. The tour begins with a brief history of show girls, stage spectaculars and the Jubilee! show. See for yourself the size and the mechanics of the stage, which is one of the largest and most technically complex in the country, comprising three lifts, two wagons and two revolves. A Jubilee! show girl discusses the everyday challenges of being on stage, such as catching your shoe between the lifts, getting caught up in your costume and the many time constraints of working in a live show. Visitors are then guided to the various dressing rooms and allowed an up-close look at the elaborate costumes worn by the Jubilee! show girls. Restrictions: This tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Ice Cream and Wine SocialJoin us in the spouse/guest hospitality suite for an ice cream and wine social. Come in and cool down after returning from the tour or after relaxing by the pool by building your own sundae. If ice cream doesn’t appeal to you then stop by for a nice chilled glass of wine.

Spouse/Guest BreakfastVikki Childs, spouse of NRMCA Chairman Bill Childs, cordially invites you to attend the spouse/guest breakfast taking place from 8:00 – 9:30 am on Tuesday, September 24, in the Veranda F meeting room. All spouses and guests are welcome to attend; you will receive an invitation in the mail shortly after you register for the conference. Please RSVP your attendance to Jessica Walgenbach at 240.285.1152 or to [email protected].
