Ballot IssueThere are two measures to be places on the KCMO ballot on August 7th.

Question 1 changes how the KCMO Parks are funded, from three different property taxes and a motor vehical fee that are paid on by residents of KCMO to a 1/2 cent sales tax that is paid by everyone, including people who visit and work in KCMO, but do not live in the city limits. In addition, this will create a dedicated street maintenance fund which will double the budget street maintenance.

Question 2 is a $500 million revenue bond issue to address the unfunded federal mandate of converting our combined sewer system into a modern system and to extend sanitary sewers to the growth areas of our city. The bonds will be retired with already planned revenue from the system and will not increase taxes.

Making Connections Work for Your BusinessScrumptious Catering is very pleased to announce a newly created partnership with Vocational Services to package their catering plasticware.

Vocational Services employees adults with disabilities, and these adults are thrilled to receive new jobs such as stuffing envelopes and putting together packets for your office.

Marcie Hanson with Scrumptious Catering and David Phillips with Vocational Services recently met at a NRCC networking breakfast and worked together to see how they could partner. After a few more meetings, Marcie and David finally came up with the idea of packaging plasticware.

This is a great example of how making connections within Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce can help your business succeed!

NRCC Membership Survey, Thanks for Your ParticipationRecently the membership of NRCC was asked to participate in a survey and we had great response! This survey was developed by the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE) out of California. This group graciously shared their survey with NRCC so we could better evaluate our Chamber as a whole, and compare ourselves on a national level.

Out of those members who participated, the number one reason why people hold a Chamber membership is to make connections with other businesses. The second reason is exposure for their business in the community and among other businesses. The third reason that members belong to the Chamber is because they want to make a difference.

50% said that their Chamber investment was highly relevant to their business and 94% agreed that the value of the Chamber was comparable more or less to the dues. 96% of members surveyed strongly or somewhat agreed that the NRCC’s primary purpose was to create a strong local economy.

81% of members who participated agreed that the NRCC is the “unified voice for the Northland.”
