Estes Builders ranks highest in the nation for homebuyer experience

Avid Ratings, the largest independent new home survey company in the country, has awarded Estes Builders the 2013 Avid® Custom Builder Diamond Award, the high-est customer satisfaction award presented to custom builders in the United States.

“Congratulations to the entire team at Estes Builders for being named a 2013 Avid Diamond Award Winner,” said Paul A. Cardis, CEO and founder of Avid Ratings. “Based on these re-sults, Estes Builders is one of America’s nest builders, with customer satisfaction scores that consistently rank in the top tier of our nation-wide survey of home buyer satisfaction.”

“ is is more comprehensive than most peo-ple realize,” said Rick Gross, Estes’ customer service manager. “ is survey is not a few sim-ple questions. It evaluates builders in 56 key ar-eas that in uence a customer’s experience. Not just construction quality, but also important areas, such as price, satisfaction with design,

nishing on time, thorough explanation of the building process, prompt and accurate answers to questions, and many more.”

A little-known fact in home building is that the most common cause of customer dissat-isfaction is not poor construction quality. Yet that’s how most people evaluate builders. In reality, most dissatisfaction stems from cost overruns and extras, the builder not listen-ing, the builder not responding to calls, poor scheduling and general disorganization.

“Being No. 1 in the country is di cult,” owner Kevin Estes said. “It is special. How many times in a lifetime do you get to say we are the highest rated company? It takes a real commitment by everyone at the company to have the best customer service experience in the United States. I am tremendously proud of the service attitude and professionalism of our entire team.”

A pleasant custom home building experi-ence starts long before construction begins. Most of Estes Builders’ success in customer satisfaction can be directly traced to how Es-tes Builders designs and plans with their cli-ents early on. ey strive to provide a clear road map and to lay the groundwork for a pleasant building experience.

“We don’t rest on our laurels. We were ranked second in the nation in 2004 and we constantly have ranked among the top per-cent in the nation. We continue to learn and improve every day,” Estes said.

Health Care Reform Tip: New W2 reporting

requirements are comingby Will Compton

Under the A ordable Care Act, all employ-ers that provide “applicable employer-spon-sored coverage” or essentially a group health insurance plan are now required to report the value of that health care coverage on employ-ee’s W2s starting next year.

e value of the health care coverage will be reported in Box 12 of the Form W-2, with Code DD to identify the amount. ere is no reporting on the Form W-3 of the total of these amounts for all the employer’s employees.

In general, the amount reported should in-clude both the portion paid by the employer and the portion paid by the employee

Reporting the cost of health care coverage on the Form W-2 does not mean that the cov-erage is taxable. e value of the employer’s excludable contribution to health coverage continues to be excludable from an employ-ee’s income and it is not taxable. is report-ing currently is for informational purposes only and will provide employees useful and comparable consumer information on the cost of their health care coverage.

For more detail on this regulation, visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov/uac/Form-W-2-Reporting-of-Employer-Sponsored-Health-Coverage.

e BIAW Health Insurance Program con-tinues to be here to assist with any questions you may have on this or any other health care reform regulation that you may have.
