    Presidency MessageHe who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be

    made glorious. (Doctrine and Covenants 78:19)We have enjoyed a beautiful fall. The weather could nothave been lovelier. As Ive been out and about I havemarveled at the rich colors of autumn and beenreminded of why I love this time of year. How grateful Iam for this beautiful world that Heavenly Father createdfor us! Gratitude is such a simple thing, but often we getso busy that we forget to be grateful. The Lord wantsyou to have a spirit of gratitude in all you do and say.Live with a spirit of thanksgiving and you will havegreater happiness and satisfaction in life. Gratitude willturn your heart to the Lord and help you recognize Hisinfluence and blessings in your life. Even in your mostdifficult times, you can find much to be grateful for.Doing so will strengthen and bless you. (from For theStrength of Youthwebsite) Let us commit today to livewith a spirit of thanksgiving.

    The grateful man sees so much in the world tobe thankful for, and with him the goodoutweighs the evil. Love overpowers jealousy,and light drives darkness out of his life!Pridedestroys our gratitude and sets up selfishnessin its place. How much happier we are in thepresence of a grateful and loving soul, and howcareful we should be to cultivate, through the

    medium of a prayerful life, a thankful attitudetoward God and man! President Joseph F.Smith

    Visiting Teaching CornerThis Months message is: I Will Not Fail Thee, nor

    Forsake Thee by President Thomas S. Monson, October

    General Conference

    Our Heavenly Father!knows that we learn and growand become stronger as we face and survive the trialsthrough which we must pass. Only the Master knows thedepths of our trials, our pain, and our suffering. He aloneoffers us eternal peace in times of adversity. He alonetouches our tortured souls with His comforting words:Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, andlearn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and yeshall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, andmy burden is light. Whether it is the best of times or the

    worst of times, He is with us. He has promised that thiswill never change.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Its a New Month Your V.T. Sisters are Waiting to SeeYou!

    "If the Savior stood beside me, would I see my sisters inneed?Would I try to be a friend and show my love by word anddeed?Would I serve and be more like him? Would I have morecharity?If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching overme." (Words by Joy Frandsen)

    The 10tWard Relief Society Theme for 2013 is: Drawing Closer to Christ.

    D&C 88:63 Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek mediligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive;

    knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

    Elder Bernard P. Brockbank called this process of asking, seeking, and knocking aGod-given formula on how to reach and know your Heavenly Father and yourSavior, Jesus Christ (Be Worthy of Celestial Exaltation, in Speeches of the Year, 1974 [Provo:Brigham Young University Press, 1975], pp. 37879).
