Meet Our New Board Members
Michelle Wilkinson, the new Community Representative, is a native Novocastrian who has a
range of skills in the business and not for profit sectors. Michelle runs her own business in
the local area and is known in the leadership, business and executive space for her work in
assisting others to achieve their business and personal potential. She is looking forward to
providing a voice for the broader community through her participation on The Place board,
with a view to positively shape the future strategic direction of the organisation.
Gemma Morgan, our Youth Representative, is a Lake Macquarie resident for over 22 years
with a passion for her local community. An former student of Whitebridge High School,
Gemma is now an accountant working in the local area. She is also a founding member of
the Bright Minds Project, a youth led mental health initiative working with young people aged
12-25. Gemma is looking forward to using her experience in both the youth and financial
sectors to give a fresh perspective to the Board of The Place.
Get Online Week Event
During October The Place hosted a special Get Online Week event demonstrating how people can use mobile
devices to Get Online on the Go. It was a very successful day with a catered lunch and full class and we’d like to
thank all of the participants who attended.
The Be Connected program of 2019 has assisted many people over 50 increase their confidence & digital skills but
the year is far from over and we are currently offering our services to groups in the community who would like to
have a digital mentor come to them and share their knowledge.
